Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Ishan Kishan has been firing all guns since the T20 World Cup 2026, and it seems like the IPL 2026 is also set to be a battleground for the left-hander, where he will tend to break multiple records.

Ishan Kishan, currently the skipper of SRH for IPL 2026, due to the absence of Pat Cummins, made an unprecedented record to join the tally behind names like Yusuf Pathan, MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant, among others.

Kishan Pulls The Right Gears To Etch Rare IPL Record

Kishan, who started off the RCB vs SRH inaugural clash in IPL on a strong note with his trademark ferocity with the bat, was seen lofting deliveries off of pacers and spinners alike to breach a cherished milestone in the tournament.

Notably, Kishan has become the latest Indian batter to reach 3000 runs in IPL, the fastest. Ishan Kishan took 2180 deliveries to reach the landmark as he now hangs at the bottom of a list that is decorated by veterans.

Rishabh Pant is the first Indian batter in the tournament’s history to reach 3,000 runs in the fewest balls, just 2,028 deliveries, followed by Yusuf Pathan, Suryakumar Yadav, Suresh Raina, and MS Dhoni.

Kishan, who had a solid T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, scored 317 runs from nine innings while averaging 35.22 at a strike rate of 193.29.

Ishan Kishan In Red-Hot Form

His most memorable knock in the T20 World Cup came against Pakistan, where he scored 41 off 77, and also in the final against New Zealand, where he managed a half-century off 24 deliveries.

The red-hot scoring form of Kishan continued as he smashed another half-century in the first match for Hyderabad as captain, and was added to the decorated list owned by Indian veterans.

Kishan’s Prospects As The Captain Of SRH

However, beyond the talent he possesses, Kishan, who, like MS Dhoni, is a wicketkeeper-batter, has 3,029 runs in the IPL at a strike rate of 138.12 and is also a successful leader. In 2025-26, he led Jharkhand to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy win in their maiden triumph.

Hence, it speaks volumes about his potential as a captain in this match. Nevertheless, with more runs to come, Kishan is on his way to give Hyderabad a solid start to their innings.

Jacob Duffy Troubles Hyderabad

Notably, Jacob Duffy, who made his debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the match, troubled Hyderabad’s openers.

Coming in to bowl, Duffy scalped three massive wickets for SRH, namely Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitesh Kumar Reddy, all of whom were dismissed within a total of 19 runs, with Ishan Kishan going strong.

Duffy was an absolute strike bowler in the inaugural IPL 2026 match, who was able to generate movement at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, gradually putting SRH under pressure.

In the powerplay overs, SRH managed to score 49 runs while losing three wickets. However, at the end of 10 overs, the once-monstrous top order was struggling at 87/3.
