England Women’s captain Nat Sciver-Brunt made a triumphant return to her team’s playing XI for the semifinal of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Playing her first match in over two weeks, the legendary all-rounder struck a thunderous 47-ball 75 to knock South Africa Women’s team out of the competition.
Following her match-winning knock in the semifinal, Nat made yet another statement, this time in the final even before the first ball was bowled at the iconic Lord’s in London on Sunday, July 5. As it happened, the cricketer stepped into the field for the national anthem ceremony with her one-year-old son Theo Sciver-Brunt.

Notably, the cricketer was also accompanied by her one-year-old son Theo Sciver-Brunt, as players from both sides were walking out for the national anthem ceremony before the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final match.
It is worth noting that Nat is married to fellow England Women cricketer Katherine Sciver-Brunt. Their son Theo was born in March 2025 last year.
Nat Sciver-Brunt’s injury marred journey to the final
After missing the home series against India and New Zealand Women, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt made her return to competitive cricket through the opening match of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Birmingham last month.
However, the senior all-rounder played just two matches in the Group 2 stage before getting ruled out by the ECB for another couple of weeks. She punched out match-winning scores of 46* and 48 in the two games to aggregate 94 runs overall at an astonishing average.
The 33-year-old was later cleared to re-join the England team just before the semifinal of the tournament, where her 75 decimated South Africa in London.
Australia gains early advantage over England in final
On the day of the final, Australian captain Sophie Molineux won the toss and opted to field first. Her fast bowlers Lucy Hamilton and Annabel Sutherland responded with a wicket each in their respective first overs of the match.
While Hamilton dismissed England Women opener Amy Jones for a run-a-ball six in the second over of the match, Sutherland cut short Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s stay at the crease courtesy of some smart stumping from legendary wicketkeeper Beth Mooney.
For England, captain Nat Sciver-Brunt responded back with a couple of confident boundaries to give her side a much-needed push inside the powerplay overs.
The hosts eventually reached 39-2 at the end of the first six overs, with both Nat (19* off 17) and middle-order batter Alice Capsey (4* off 6 balls) batting at the crease.
