Auqib Nabi took the all-important wicket of Will Young in the second ODI on Saturday, but the credit should be given to KL Rahul for his outstanding grab behind the stumps. Nabi did manage to induce an edge, but the keeper needed to stretch his hands to grab a stunner, and he did that to perfection.

Rain showers made the Wellington pitch tailor-made for the fast bowlers, and Auqib Nabi, known for his swing, made full use of the wicket to dismiss Tim Seifert, followed by the all-important wicket of Will Young.

The ball was moving around, and the Indian pacer made it talk as Young, who has struggled for runs in the last few matches, had no answer.

The Indian seamer bowled a length ball around off as Young, who neither pushed forward nor stayed back, played away from the body, and the ball took the outside edge.

KL Rahul, the keeper, was initially moving to his left, but he adjusted himself as he quickly moved to his right and dived across to grab the ball, and ended Young’s struggling innings.

The Indian keeper initially misjudged the ball, but he was quick enough to still catch it safely, as the ball was grabbed inches above the ground, and Young was sent packing for 6.

Not the first time KL Rahul has taken a blinder as keeper

On Saturday, KL Rahul showed glimpses of his brilliance behind the stumps, and it is not the first time he has taken a stunner to dismiss the opposition batter.

He took a similar catch in the first ODI between India and England in July 2026. In the 22nd over of the England innings, Shivam Dube induced an edge from the English batter, Will Jacks, and the ball was travelling quickly to KL Rahul’s right.

However, the 34-year-old keeper swiftly dived to his right and judged the ball perfectly to grab a one-handed stunner. The stunning effort gave India a timely breakthrough just as England appeared to be rebuilding their innings.
