The relationship between Babar Azam and Imad Wasim was not great, and things became worse after the latter’s comment on the former Pakistan captain during the T20 World Cup 2026.
There, after Babar’s slow knock against England, Imad labelled it as ‘criminal’, taking all the limelight amid Pakistan’s dismal show in the T20I marquee event.
This was not the first time Imad commented on Babar, who always remained silent despite the criticism he received over the years.
Babar Azam Vs Imad Wasim Takes Center Stage
On Tuesday evening, Babar Azam’s Peshwar Zalmi will go up against Imad Wasim-starred Islamabad United in Match 7 of PSL 2026 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
As Babar versus Imad is about to bring popcorns in fans’ couches, a glimpse of them having a little face-off before even the PSL context began went viral on social media.
There, while Babar was seen stretching his leg, Imad was caught on camera pretending to throw the ball at him with a smile on his face. Even though Imad did not throw the ball, his gesture made Babar smile as well, making a wholesome moment for Pakistan fans.

Babar Azam vs Imad Wasim Record In PSL
Talking about their head-to-head record, Imad is yet to get a wicket of Babar in the Pakistan Super League. They had faced each other since 2023, and Babar made 33 runs off 25 balls against the left-arm spinner across three editions.
Out of 25 balls Babar had faced against Imad Wasim, only six balls were dots, indicating that the latter is not a fear factor for Pakistan’s ODI specialist.
Babar Azam PSL 2026 Stats
Babar had an excellent start in PSL 2026. The Peshawar Zalmi captain came to open the innings while coming to chase a challenging target of 215. He made 39 off 28 deliveries with the help of four fours and one six, which eventually played an important role in their five-wicket victory.
Notably, during his 28-ball 39, Babar had played two delightful shots against Mohammad Amir, who had a very similar relationship with him like Imad.
The Peshawar versus Islamabad match will be Babar’s second fixture in PSL 2026, and he will be looking forward to improving his numbers to stay as the top run-getter in the competition’s history.
Babar Azam's Record In PSL
Babar has been the highest run-getter in the Pakistan Super League for a while; the gap between him and the second-placed Fakhar Zaman, who recently made headlines for unwanted reasons, is huge.
While Babar has made 3831 runs at an average of 44.54 across 99 innings, Fakhar has 3018 runs in the same number of innings in the PSL.
The third, fourth and fifth places who held the positions in the list, are Mohammad Rizwan, Shoaib Malik and Rilee Rossouw.
