Angkrish Raghuvanshi reacts to Rishabh Pant's wicket [Source: X]
Tempers flared high at the Ekana Stadium on Sunday night between the Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders after Angkrish Raghuvanshi was controversially given out obstructing the field.
The player and KKR management looked livid and argued that the batter was unfairly given out, considering he was in the middle of the pitch when he was looking to run back to the crease. Even Rishabh Pant and LSG were called out for being unsporting for appealing in such a situation.

The heat between the sides carried on into the second innings when Pant was batting as they put on a thriller, which went into the super over, which was eventually won by the visitors.

The incident occurred at the 12.2 over mark in the second innings, long after the obstructing the field happened as Rishabh Pant tried to reverse sweep Sunil Narine but gloved the ball to the wicketkeeper. He was given not out on the field, but upon Tim Seifert’s appeal, KKR used the DRS.
As the big screen at the venue showed a spike on the ultra-edge, as the ball passed Pant’s glove, the camera panned towards the KKR dugout, where Angkrish Raghuvanshi was sitting in the front row. He was immediately caught saying, “F*** off” as Pant had to walk back to the dugout for 42 off 38.

Was Angkrish Raghuvanshi unfairly given out vs LSG?
In only the fourth instance of a batter being given out for obstructing the field in the 19-year history of IPL, the decision looked controversial and was heavily criticised by both fans and experts.
According to many, following Raghuvanshi’s mix-up with Cameron Green, the batter was in a situation where he could not have turned back at the spot to return to the crease. Since he was in the middle of the wicket, he stood a chance of damaging the pitch by running back in a straight line.
However, some pointed out that he was looking at the ball and took an extra stride to get himself in the fielder’s throwing line, and it was a fair call. As things stand, the decision divides opinions, but as per the laws, it was out, taking the umpire’s interpretation of the situation into account.
Ahead of his wicket on 9(8), the 21-year-old was KKR’s leading run-scorer of the season with 209 runs in 8 innings at a strike rate of 141.21. He was eventually toppled by Rinku Singh’s POTM-winning 83*(51) later in the night.
KKR look to carry the winning momentum
Ahead of the away fixture against LSG, the Knight Riders held the place at the bottom of the points table for the majority of IPL 2026. They had only won once in 7 matches this season, alongside a point in a washed-out match against the Punjab Kings and had 3 points to their name.
Now, courtesy of two back-to-back wins on the road over the Rajasthan Royals and LSG, KKR have 5 points in 8 matches and still stand a chance to make a dramatic comeback into the season. Up next, they will face the Sunrisers Hyderabad away from home in the afternoon fixture on May 3.
