RCB were the favourites to clinch the IPL 2026 trophy against the Gujarat Titans in the finals on May 31, and the Red Army did just that as the Rajat Patidar-led side went back-to-back and became champions once again. In a one-sided contest, RCB won the match by 5 wickets, with Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 75 being the difference maker.

The moment Kohli finished off the game with a six, the entire stadium erupted as the jubilant RCB fans celebrated alongside their team. The post-IPL finale witnessed several memorable moments, but none more interesting than Kohli trolling GT in Shubman Gill’s style.

How Shubman Gill mocked every franchise in IPL 2026

The Gujarat Titans played as a unit and reached the IPL finals for the third time in their history, with captain Shubman Gill playing a huge role in the team’s success. Gill, normally stays away from banters and trolling, but in the recently concluded season, the world witnessed a different shade of him.

After every victory that the Titans had over other franchises, Gill used to cheekily mock the opponents on social media. For example, after the win against the Chennai Super Kings, the GT captain took to social media and shared a post that read: “Nandri Chennai” while holding a yellow whistle.

CSK is known as the Yellow Army, and “whistle podu” is their anthem.

Similarly, after beating the RCB side in the league stage game at Ahmedabad, Gill posted a picture alongside Jason Holder, and the caption read: "Play Hold @jaseholder98 Bold performance by the team tonight."

Kohli gives reply to Shubman Gill in his style

Kohli is someone who doesn’t forget the on-field and off-field banters, and he was waiting for the perfect opportunity to take a swipe at the Gujarat Titans. After defeating them in the finals, Kohli cheekily mocked GT’s tagline, 'Aava De' (Let it come).

Speaking with Mr Nags, Kohli stated: “Trophy aava de and home jaava de, thank you very much (Let the trophy come and let us go home, thank you very much.”

It was a playful way to mock his Indian teammate, Gill, and the Gujarat Titans franchise. While Gill started the banter, Kohli finished it off in style in the finale.

Kohli-Gill's banters in IPL 2026

This was just one incident where Kohli and Gill indirectly had a go at each other (all in good spirit). There have been numerous instances when Kohli and Gill had an indirect battle against each other.

In the league game between GT and RCB in Ahmedabad, RCB were bundled out cheaply, and GT was cruising towards the target when Kohli caught Shubman Gill at covers and immediately showed a wave of emotions by throwing the ball on the ground and giving a death stare to his Indian mate.

Moreover, ahead of their Qualifier 1 match at Dharamsala, Kohli met Gill, and cheekily pulled his beard as the two shared a light-hearted moment.

Kohli delivers for RCB in the IPL final

When the pressure is at its highest, Kohli rises to the occasion, and it happened once again during the IPL 2026 final. GT posted just 155, and the RCB side was the favourite to chase it down. However, after a quickfire start, the team lost a flurry of wickets.

This is when Kohli stood tall and completed a 25-ball fifty to keep RCB in the hunt. Despite suffering from cramps, the RCB opener was like a brick wall which the GT bowlers couldn’t break.

He remained unbeaten at 75 off 42 balls, and finished the game with his wilow to help RCB win their second successive IPL title.
