On Wednesday, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scripted history as the 15-year-old shattered Chris Gayle’s record for most sixes in a single IPL season. The RR prodigy scripted the feat against SRH in the much-awaited IPL 2026 eliminator at the Mullanpur Stadium.

Before the start of the match, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had 53 sixes to his name and required 7 maximums to go past the universal boss. The feat looked unlikely, but the 15-year-old made a mockery of SRH bowling and completed the milestone within the powerplay.

Notably, batting first, RR scored 57 runs in the first four overs and rode on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s heroics. The 15-year-old scored a 16-ball fifty, which featured 7 sixes. With the six, he went past Chris Gayle for the most maximums in a single IPL season. Here is the complete list.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi opened the account for Rajasthan Royals and went all guns blazing from the first ball. The 15-year-old slammed Pat Cummins for a six on the last ball of the first over.

However, he saved the best for the 3rd over when he whacked the Australia captain for three consecutive maximums. The right-arm seamer was in disbelief by the powerhitting, but Sooryavanshi gained momentum from there on. Eventually, he collected four sixes off Pat Cummins' bowling with the powerplay.
