India's young prodigy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, is all set to make his international debut as he is expected to feature in the two-match T20I series against Ireland.

Ahead of the opening T20I, Ireland captain Lorcan Tucker has openly issued a warning for the teenage sensation.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earned his maiden India call-up after an extraordinary IPL 2026 campaign. The left-handed batter finished as the tournament's highest run-scorer, amassing 776 runs in 16 matches at a remarkable strike rate of 237.31.

Ireland Captain Issues Warning For Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Tucker, who was appointed Ireland's full-time captain last week following Paul Stirling's injury, acknowledged Sooryavanshi's talent while speaking at the pre-match press conference.

"It's pretty incredible for them to have a 15-year-old in their team. I didn't think that was ever going to be possible in this professional era," Tucker said ahead of the series.

Notably, the Bihar boy has continued his impressive run even after the IPL. Just days ago, while representing India A against Sri Lanka A, Sooryavanshi smashed the fastest half-century in List A cricket history, reaching the milestone in just 11 balls.

While praising Sooryavanshi's exceptional talent, Tucker admitted that Ireland would relish the opportunity to spoil the youngster's much-anticipated debut.

"Credit to him, he's a pretty special player. We're hoping we'll see him this week. It will be a big moment for him, but it would be great to spoil that party for him. Most of the hype here has been about him making his debut in this series. He's obviously an absolutely incredible talent. He blew the IPL up and we've tried to do as much research as we can on him," Tucker added.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Set To Break Sachin Tendulkar's Record

If Sooryavanshi makes his debut, the 15-year-old will become India's youngest-ever international cricketer.

He will surpass the record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who made his international debut at the age of 16 during India's 1989 tour of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, apart from their regular captain, Ireland will be without their key players for IRE vs IND T20I series, including Josh Little, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Curtis Campher and Jordan Neill.

Lorcan Tucker Challenges T20 World Cup 2026 Winners

Despite the absence of several senior players, Tucker believes Ireland can still put India under pressure and challenge the Visitors, especially in familiar home conditions.

"They're one of the best T20 teams there has ever been. Their performances in this year's World Cup showed that.

"But all of the pressure is on them. The pitch might be a bit slower than what they're used to. Hopefully that can make a difference, and we can make an early impact and stun a few people," Tucker added.

However, it is important to note that history strongly favours India heading into the T20Iseries. The Men in Blue have won all eight T20Is they have played against Ireland, maintaining a perfect record in the rivalry.

India will face Ireland at the Stormont Cricket Ground on June 26 and June 28, 2026, before travelling to England for a busy white-ball assignment.
