Indian pacer Akash Deep has started a new journey after marrying Akshita Raj in a traditional wedding ceremony held in Varanasi on Wednesday. The event was attended by family members, close relatives, and several well-known personalities from different fields.
The wedding celebrations had been taking place for four days at Akash Deep's ancestral home in Baddi village, located in Bihar's Rohtas district.
Family members were busy with preparations, while the entire village enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Local residents were especially happy to see one of their own achieve success as an Indian cricketer and celebrate such a special occasion.
Later, the wedding procession left Baddi village and reached a luxury hotel in Varanasi, where the marriage ceremony was completed according to traditional customs.
Why Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma And MS Dhoni Were Missing
One topic that caught the attention of fans was the absence of some of India's biggest cricket stars, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and former captain MS Dhoni.
During the celebrations, a guest jokingly asked Akash about not inviting the star players to his wedding. "Brother, you haven't invited Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma to your wedding," asked a guest.
Responding with humor, Akash Deep said, "Shaadi ho paayega yahan Banaras mein (Will the marriage take place here in Banaras)?"

His light-hearted reply suggested that the presence of such cricket legends would have attracted a huge crowd and made it difficult to conduct the wedding smoothly.
Both Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni enjoy massive popularity across the country, and their attendance would likely have required heavy security arrangements and special planning.

According to family sources, the marriage was arranged with the consent and blessings of both families and their close relatives. The wedding brought together two families with strong roots in the same district.
Meanwhile, Akash Deep recently received another major achievement off the field.
A few days before his wedding, the Bihar State Government recommended him and fellow cricketer Mukesh Kumar for direct appointment as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) under the sports quota.
Akash Deep's Journey In Indian Cricket
Talking about Akash Deep's journey in Indian cricket, the young pacer has represented India in 10 Tests and has taken 28 wickets so far. Notably, his best bowling figures in an innings are 6 for 60, while his best match figures stand at 10 for 112.
However, the Bihar-born pacer has faced several challenges in recent months. He was ruled out of the recently concluded IPL 2026 due to a lower-back stress injury. His last appearance for India came during the tour of England, where he played in the fifth Test at The Oval and returned figures of 1/80 and 1/85.
After that match, a series of injury setbacks kept him away from competitive cricket and also led to his exclusion from subsequent Indian Test squads.
