The second and final Test between Sri Lanka and West Indies ended in a rain-affected draw at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, on Tuesday (July 7).
However, the result was enough for West Indies to clinch the two-match Test series 1-0 after their dominant victory in the opening Test. It was a memorable achievement for the Caribbean side as they registered their first home Test series win in two years.
Sri Lanka declared their second innings at 251/9 after lunch, setting the hosts a challenging target of 302 runs in less than two sessions. In reply, the West Indies reached 109/0 in 40 overs before rain and bad light ended any hopes of a result, forcing the match to finish in a draw.
Updated WTC Table After WI vs SL 2nd Test Ended In A Draw
For West Indies, the drawn Test was enough to seal a 1-0 series triumph. However, the additional points did not improve their position in WTC table. The hosts continue to occupy the eighth spot with 20 points and a points percentage (PCT) of 16.67. Despite winning the series, they remain only one place above bottom-ranked Pakistan.
Sri Lanka also collected four points from the drawn encounter. Nevertheless, their position in the standings remained unchanged as they stayed sixth with 20 points and a PCT of 41.67. They continue to sit one place behind India while also remaining above England in the current WTC table.

Meanwhile, Australia and South Africa continue to lead the WTC table. Australia remain the only team with a PCT above 80, while South Africa and New Zealand are the only other teams with a PCT of more than 70.
Looking ahead, West Indies will play their final home Test series of 2026 against Pakistan in July. The two-match series could prove crucial if they hope to climb the WTC standings.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will next face India in a two-match away Test series in August before taking on New Zealand in February 2027.
Sri Lanka entered the final day needing a victory to level the series after suffering an innings defeat in the opening Test.
Starting the morning on 92/2 in their second innings with an overall lead of 142, Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis immediately looked to increase the scoring rate and give captain Dhananjaya de Silva enough time to push for a result.
Mendis scored a valuable 44 before falling to Jayden Seales, while Chandimal led the charge with an entertaining 71 off 107 balls.
As Sri Lanka accelerated the scoring, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Alzarri Joseph was the most successful West Indies bowler with figures of 2/44, while every bowler used by captain Roston Chase picked up at least one wicket.
The visitors eventually declared their second innings at 251/9, setting West Indies a target of 302 runs in under two sessions.
In response, openers John Campbell and Brandon King batted positively from the outset and frustrated the Sri Lankan attack with an unbeaten opening partnership. However, rain interrupted play twice.
Play briefly resumed later in the day, but only formalities remained as the West Indies finished on 109/0 from 40 overs. Both Campbell and King remained unbeaten on 51, and the match ended in a draw.
