India have stormed into the semifinals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 with an emphatic win over the West Indies, setting up a blockbuster clash against England on Thursday. The defending champions now eye a second straight final, riding momentum and belief on what has been a fabulous T20 World Cup campaign on home soil.

Barring one or two minor stumbles, India have looked dominant throughout the tournament. A home World Cup has once again gripped the nation, bringing back memories of 2023 when cricket consumed every conversation. With the team back in global title contention, the energy feels familiar, electric, and deeply emotional.

Yet, lingering in the background is the painful memory of the 2023 World Cup final, when Pat Cummins led Australia silenced a packed Ahmedabad crowd, destroying a billion dreams. As India prepares for the upcoming Semi Final at Wankhede Stadium, one England player arrive with the same intent, determined to script a similar heartbreak like 19 November.

Sam Curran Aims to Silence Wankhede Crowd in Semi-Final Clash Against India

As anticipation builds for the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium, both sides have intensified preparations. Addressing the media on Tuesday, England all-rounder Sam Curran spoke about the challenge of handling a loud Wankhede crowd backing India in the high-stakes encounter.

"We are ready for what the crowd’s going to be like. It will be incredibly loud and you have got to look at that as an exciting opportunity. If the crowd is silent, England are probably going to be doing well, so that's our positive way of looking at it,” Curran said.

Sam Curran embraced the prospect of playing before a roaring Wankhede crowd, admitting such atmospheres are what cricketers dream of. Yet, he also hinted at how quickly the Wankhede can fall silent if the away side takes control, a mindset similar to that of Australian captain Pat Cummins before the 2023 World Cup final against India.

Sam Curran Calls Playing India in India a Dream Moment

This marks the third straight T20 World Cup semifinal meeting between England and India since the 2022 edition in Australia. England dominated in 2022 with a 10-wicket win and went on to win the title, before India responded in 2024 in Guyana, eventually lifting the trophy as well.

With the head-to-head locked at 1-1 now in T20 World Cup semifinals, the stage now shifts to India’s home soil. For Sam Curran, featuring in such a high-stakes clash against the hosts, backed by a passionate crowd, represents a dream-come-true moment in his career.

"Flying to Mumbai from Sri Lanka, you kind of think about what you dreamed of as a kid, what would you love to do? And that will probably take on India in India. It is such an amazing experience,” Curran added.

While England’s players are no strangers to hostile conditions of playing against India in India, Sam Curran acknowledged the magnitude of the contest ahead. After an early setback in the group stage against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium, they have responded with commanding all-round displays.

Now, with momentum behind them, England aim to topple the host India and, in Sam Curran’s own competitive spirit, silence the roaring Wankhede crowd to book a place for England in the final.
