West Indies lit up the T20 World Cup 2026 with a commanding display, defeating England by 30 runs in Match 15 of the tournament. Delivering under pressure, the Caribbean side produced a clinical all-round performance to outclass England in a high-octane clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, February 11th evening.

Here, we take a look at the complete highlights of Match 15 of the T20 World Cup 2026 between West Indies and England, as the action unfolded in Mumbai.

Promising counter cut short as West Indies slip at halfway mark

West Indies endured a nightmare start after being asked to bat first, losing both openers inside the first two overs. England’s new-ball burst put them under immediate pressure before Shimron Hetmyer launched a counterattack, refusing to let the early wickets take the game away at Wankhede.

Hetmyer, fresh from his heroics against Scotland, took charge alongside Roston Chase. Harry Brook introduced Will Jacks early as a response, but Chase struck three boundaries while Hetmyer sealed a 19-run over with a towering six, powering West Indies to 52 for 2 in five overs.

However, Jamie Overton bounced out Hetmyer before the powerplay ended, triggering another setback for the Men in Maroon. Adil Rashid then removed the set Chase as scoring dried up post powerplay. At 79 for 4 at the halfway mark, West Indies were in deep trouble, desperate for a rescue partnership to keep themselves in the game.

Rutherford’s rampage powers West Indies to 196

Searching for a counterpunch, Sherfane Rutherford shifted gears after the halfway mark, taking the attack to England’s bowlers. With Rovman Powell joining the charge, West Indies produced three momentum-shifting overs.

Adil Rashid briefly restored order by dismissing Powell, offering England some breathing space. However, Rutherford kept going from his end, bringing up a commanding half-century. Sam Curran tried to keep the scoring on check at the death, but Jason Holder’s three sixes turned the tide once more.

Rutherford then tore into Jofra Archer and Jamie Overton, plundering 54 runs from three of the four pace overs at the death. West Indies powered to a formidable 196, with Rutherford unbeaten at 42-ball 76, while Adil Rashid had a record-breaking night with the ball, taking 2 for 16 in his 4.

Flying powerplay sets tone in England's chase

Chasing 197, England stormed out of the blocks as Phil Salt went berserk, smashing 24 runs off Jason Holder’s second over to hand the visitors a dream start. West Indies, under pressure, desperately searched for an early breakthrough.

They turned to Romario Shepherd, the hat-trick hero from the Scotland clash, and he delivered by removing Salt in his very first over. Jos Buttler began cautiously, but Jacob Bethell kept the momentum alive as England raced to 67 for 1 in the powerplay.

West Indies spin web traps England in middle-overs

England were flying after the kind of start they got, but West Indies roared back through spin as Gudakesh Motie and Roston Chase tore through the middle order. Buttler, who looked to accelerate after the powerplay, fell to Chase, while Motie dismissed the dangerous Jacob Bethell.

Harry Brook and Sam Curran attempted to rebuild, yet the pressure only mounted. Motie’s game-changing spell ended with Brook’s wicket, further derailing England's hope. The spinners completely flipped the contest, returning remarkable figures of 6 for 74 in the middle-overs (7-16).

Shamar Joseph and Jason Holder then applied the finishing touches with lethal yorkers at the death. Their precision ensured there was no late twist, as West Indies sealed back-to-back wins and climbed to the top of Group C in emphatic fashion.
