Chinnaswamy Stadium To Host IPL 2026 Final (Source: X)
RCB fans can celebrate as their desire for IPL 2026 seems to become a reality. Their home since the beginning – Chinnaswamy Stadium – is set to get the matches for the upcoming edition, not one or two but seven matches in total.
India Today reported that the playoff and final, as well as five home matches for RCB, will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This includes the season opener as well, where defending champions RCB are expected to face last season runner-ups Punjab Kings.
RCB Avoids Stampede Fiasco For IPL 2026 Matches
Earlier, it was reported that RCB would not be able to play matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium due to the tragic victory parade, during which an unfortunate stampede took place. While RCB were supposed to celebrate the moment after breaking the 18-year-long trophy drought, the situation was so serious that no match has been held at Chinnaswamy since the incident.
Now the IPL 2026 curtain raiser will take place at Chinnaswamy Stadium, as well as the opening ceremony. Considering the fact that not a single match has taken place since last year’s IPL, there will be a lot of buzz when cricket returns to RCB’s home.

Chinnaswamy Stadium IPL Clearance Story
Almost a good amount of time after the stampede incident, where 11 lives were lost, the Karnataka cabinet received the approval to host IPL 2026 matches. The report came after the submission of the Justice Cunha's report, ensuring spectator safety will not be an issue.
Previously, Chinnaswamy Stadium was supposed to host the Ranji Trophy final, where Jammu and Kashmir made history by securing the trophy over star-studded Karnataka. The final was later shifted to Hubballi, keeping safety concerns in mind.
Raipur Joins Chinnaswamy As RCB's Home Venues
While five of RCB’s home matches will take place at Chinnaswamy Stadium, the other two will be in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. However, it is still to be determined whether those two fixtures will fit in IPL 2026 schedule.
Earlier, it was reported that the IPL schedule announcement had been delayed due to the Assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Nevertheless, the IPL 2026 start date is expected to be March 29, if not March 28.
How RCB Fared At Chinnaswamy In IPL 2025?
RCB had a horrible start at Chinnaswamy Stadium last year. They lost to Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings one after another before securing a victory over Rajasthan Royals. Then they got a victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and after that, the KKR vs RCB game was washed out without a ball being bowled.
Notably, RCB only had six home matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium due to escalated Indo-Pak tensions in between IPL 2025.
