Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha's family, including his wife and son, bore the brunt of the Green shirts' recent T20 World Cup defeat against England. Riding on Harry Brook's spectacular hundred, the English team steamrolled Pakistan in their second Super 8 match, becoming the first team to enter the semifinal of the tournament.
After the game concluded, skipper Salman Ali Agha faced the wrath of the angry Pakistani fans, who hurled abuses at his wife and son, sparking controversy on social media.
Pakistan's defeat Vs England earns Salman Ali Agha backlash
Led by Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan entered the Super 8 round as one of the hot favourites to reach the semifinals.
However, after their first game against New Zealand was called off due to an incessant spell of rain in Colombo, the Men in Green found themselves in a must-win situation when they took on England in Pallekele.
Despite the in-form Sahibzada Farhan's scintillating century, Pakistan posted a slightly under-par score on a batting-friendly deck.

Although Shaheen Afridi bagged four wickets, including the destructive duo of Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, the Men in Green failed to step up as a unit, losing the game by a narrow two-wicket margin.
Pakistan's defeat against England significantly dented their T20 World Cup semifinal chances, pushing them on the verge of a Super 8 elimination from the tournament.
Talking about Salman Ali Agha, the skipper fell flat with the bat, managing only five runs in the contest. While his own performance was certainly not up to the mark, fans fumed at the experienced all-rounder for some on-field tactical blunders following the defeat.
Salman Ali Agha's wife calls out Pakistan fans for toxic behaviour
So, as Pakistan ended up losing the high-voltage contest, a section of fans crossed the line, dragging Salman Ali Agha's family into the matter.
As revealed by his wife, Sabba Manzer, she received nasty abuse from the angry Pakistani fans after Pakistan lost the thrilling encounter against England.
Manzer also disclosed that the fans didn't even spare her son, venting out their anger and frustration on the innocent soul.
"Sending me or my innocent son abuse is not going to win you the World Cup Pakistani fans," Salman Ali Agha's wife posted on Instagram.
Divided by borders, united by toxicity
It has become a norm in the subcontinent to drag the players' wives and families into cricketing discourse.
Several prominent cricketers from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan have detached themselves from the social media, as toxic fans continue to hound their families over defeats in cricketing contests.
This highlights the downside of social media, with trolls misusing platforms like X and Instagram to abuse those who have nothing to do with the players' on-field performance.
Thus, toxic fan culture has made the majority of social media platforms unbearable, as fans conveniently cross the thin line between criticism and harassment.
Talking about Pakistan, the Men in Green would like England to beat New Zealand in their final Super 8 fixture. Additionally, the Salman Ali Agha-led outfit would be desperate to defeat Sri Lanka to ensure a qualification for the T20 World Cup semifinal.
