Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth have been ruled out of Australia squad for the ODI series against India. England captain Harry Brook fired a match-winning century against Pakistan in Pallekele. In other news, Harmanpreet Kaur suffered an injury during India Women’s first ODI against Australia.

Australia name replacements for Ellyse Perry, Kim Garth for series vs India

Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth have been ruled out of Australia’s three-match home ODI series against India. Cricket Australia confirmed the same shortly prior to the series-opener in Brisbane, and named Megan Schutt and Lucy Hamilton as their replacements.

Schutt even played the first ODI of the series and picked up figures of 2-42 in her nine overs. She dismissed Pratika Rawal and Shree Charani as Australia bundled out India Women for just 214. Australia went on to win the match to take a 1-0 lead in the ODI series.

ICC unveil Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 schedule

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the entire schedule of the upcoming 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to commence from June 12 onwards with a match between England and Sri Lanka in Edgbaston. Team India will commence its campaign a couple of days later at the same venue against arch-rivals Pakistan.

The two semifinals will be hosted by The Oval on June 30 and July 2 and the title clash will be played on July 5 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Harry Brook tons up to take England into semifinal

England overcame Pakistan in a last-over thriller in match number 45 of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Pallekele. After Sahibzada Farhan composed a swift 45-ball 63, Pakistan charted a competitive 164-9 from 20 overs upfront.

The Englishmen responded by losing both openers within the first three overs of the chase. However, captain Harry Brook at number three blasted a 51-ball century and crafted some match-defining partnerships with Sam Curran and Will Jacks. Brook’s century catalysed England’s win and also sealed their spot in the semifinal of the tournament.

Harmanpreet Kaur leaves field vs Australia owing to injury

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur suffered an injury on her left knee while batting against Australia Women in Brisbane in the first ODI of their three-match series. The cricketer still went on to compile 53 runs from 84 balls with three elegant boundaries as India listed 214 in 48.3 overs.

However, Harmanpreet did not take field later in the game during the Australian innings, prompting Smriti Mandhana to lead India. The BCCI also confirmed the skipper’s absence, and stated that the medical team will be monitoring her progress.

Shubham Pundir leads Jammu and Kashmir command on Day 1

Jammu and Kashmir reached a commanding 284-2 in 87 overs by stumps on Day 1 of their Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final match against Karnataka. Batting first in Hubballi, opening batter Yawer Hassan faced 150 deliveries to list an elegant 88. Shubham Pundir at number three belted an unbeaten 117* off 221 balls with 12 boundaries and two huge sixes.

In-form Abdul Samad also cracked a pacey half-century, racing to 52* from just 67 balls. For Karnataka, India seamer Prasidh Krishna accounted for both Jammu and Kashmir wickets that fell on the opening day.
