Facing Pakistan in an all-important Super 8s fixture of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Pallekele, England captain Harry Brook turned in a masterclass in a successful run-chase. Having promoted himself to number 3, Brook got a match-winning century against all odds to put the two-time champions in the semi-final of the competition.
After being asked to chase 165 runs, Brook had to walk in just on the second ball of the innings, after Shaheen Afridi got rid of Phil Salt on the very first ball. While the wickets kept tumbling at one end, the 27-year-old pressed the pedal under pressure and held on to one end and got to a 27-ball-fifty followed by a 50-ball-ton.
Before being dismissed on a Shaheen Afridi yorker on the final ball of the 17th over, he made sure his team was through, as they only required 10 from the final 3 overs. He ended his knock with 100 off 51, with 10 fours and 4 decisive sixes to his name.
In the meantime, he got into a couple of crucial partnerships with Sam Curran and Will Jacks as his team went past Pakistan with 5 balls and 2 wickets remaining.
As Brook ended the game with a lone warrior effort to put England into the final four, here’s the list of records broken by him against Pakistan.

England eyes historic 3rd title after confirming SF
Led by captain Harry Brook himself, England have now beaten both Asian teams in their Super 8 group after finishing second in the group stage. With the New Zealand clash remaining in the second stage of the competition, the Englishmen will look to finish top of the Super 8, Group 2 with 6 points.
If they finish at the top, they will face the Group 1 runner-ups and potentially march on to win their third T20 World Cup. So far, none of the teams have won the title thrice — England are tied with India and the West Indies with two trophies each.
