Shaheen, Saim challenge IPL franchises [Source: X]
Amid reports that IPL-based teams have decided to boycott Pakistan players at the The Hundred 2026 auction, Saim Ayub and Shaheen Afridi have registered for the showpiece event. The inaugural auction for this year's Men's Hundred will take place on March 12.
Four out of ten IPL teams have stakes in The Hundred. While the Mumbai Indians have partly acquired the Oval Invincibles, Sunrisers Hyderabad are the new owners of the Northern Super Chargers. The GMR group, the co-owner of Delhi Capitals, have a 49 per cent stake in Southern Brave, with Lucknow Super Giants being a major shareholder in the Manchester Originals.
Saim Ayub, Shaheen Afridi register for IPL-team heavy Hundred auction
According to the latest report, these four Hundred teams, owned either partly or fully by the IPL franchises, will likely ignore Pakistan players in the upcoming auction.
As their strained geopolitical relationship continues to affect the cricketing ties between India and Pakistan, the IPL franchises are unlikely to rope in Pakistani players for their respective teams in The Hundred auction.
However, despite four of the eight teams planning to snub cricketers of Pakistani nationality, 63 players from the country, including the decorated duo of Saim Ayub and Shaheen Afridi, have put their names on the auction list.

Both these players have set the maximum amount of £100,000 as their base price for the auction and might grab the attention of the other franchises due to the value they bring to the table.
Saim is a promising all-rounder who can not only score quick-fire cameos at the top but also chip in with crucial breakthroughs with his off-spin bowling. Meanwhile, Shaheen is an asset with the new ball and can be a threat to the opposition, thanks to his ability to generate swing and seam movement in the powerplay.
List of Prominent Pakistan players in The Hundred auction
Apart from Saim and Shaheen, Pakistan's T20I team captain Salman Ali Agha has also registered for the inaugural Hundred auction at a base price of £75,000. Meanwhile, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Nawaz and Naseem Shah have kept £100,000 as their base price.
Usman Tariq, who has grabbed a million eyeballs for his unique bowling action, is also one of the high-profile names on the list. He has kept a base price of £75,000 alongside Abrar Ahmed, Muhammad Amir and Zaman Khan.
Pakistan's T20I World Cup 2026 sensation, Sahibzada Farhan, is one of the players with a base price of £50,000, along with Usama Mir, Afaq Afridi, Abbas Afridi and spin bowler Asif Afridi.
Veteran spin bowling allrounder Imad Wasim, who recently faced serious allegations of murder and cheating from his first wife, has also put his name in the list, registering under the £50,000 bracket alongside these players.
On the other hand, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are the most notable absentees from The Hundred 2026 auction players' list. The experienced duo hasn't registered for the marquee event, ensuring their availability for Pakistan's national assignments, which will clash with the famed English league.
