Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has been reprimanded by the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB for his controversial remarks about legendary former cricketers of the country. Shadab has been impressive with bat and ball in the T20 World Cup 2026, playing a crucial role in Pakistan's dominant performance.

The spin bowling allrounder recently enjoyed stellar success, as he powered the Men in Green to a much-needed win over Namibia. Apart from playing a quick-fire knock of 36 runs, Shadab bagged three crucial wickets, ensuring an emphatic win for his team.

However, Shadab Khan's post-match statement drew more attention than his on-field performance, as he took a jibe at legendary former cricketers, highlighting their failure to defeat arch-rivals India in World Cups.

Shadab Khan's sharp dig at ex-cricketers following PAK Vs NAM

After Pakistan registered a landslide victory over Namibia and qualified for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, Shadab Khan addressed the media in the post-match press conference.

He aggressively responded to the criticism received by Pakistan's modern-day players from the ex-cricketers, saying the current group of players managed a World Cup win over arch-rivals India, something their predecessors failed to achieve.

"Former cricketers have their own opinions. They were legends, but even they could not do what we have done. We have beaten India in a World Cup. Criticism is part of cricket's history," Shadab stated during his interaction with the media.

His statement sparked controversy in Pakistan, as fans and critics slammed the seasoned campaigner for his 'loud-mouth' behaviour.

Mohsin Naqvi's PCB warns Shadab Khan for controversial remark

The PCB, chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, reportedly expressed displeasure over Shadab Khan's controversial remarks. The board even warned the cricketer, asking him to maintain the decorum while addressing the press throughout the T20 World Cup.

As reported by IANS and Telecom Asia Sport, the PCB reprimanded Shadab for his post-match statements through team manager Naveed Cheema, ordering him to respect the ex-cricketers and refrain from insulting them through such remarks.

"Naveed Cheema has called to convey to Shadab that he was out of his limits in the press conference on Wednesday night. Shadab should know that all former players - including his father-in-law, Saqlain Mushtaq - are respectable and are greats of Pakistan. Shadab should respect them and should not use such language," sources told Telecom Asia Sport, according to IANS.

So, it is worth noting that Shadab Khan is already on the radar of the PCB and might face serious consequences if he continues to defame the country's cricketing legends through his words or gestures.

Pakistan to face formidable NZ, ENG and SL in Super 8s

Led by Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan registered thumping wins over the Netherlands, the United States and Namibia.

However, significantly tougher challenges await the Men in Green, as they prepare to take on New Zealand, England and an in-form Sri Lankan team in the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup.

After facing the BlackCaps, the Pakistani team will cross swords against England and Sri Lanka in Pallekele on February 24 and 28, respectively.
