After several overseas pacers were ruled out for the initial phase of IPL 2026, namely Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Ellis among others, Mumbai Indians star Rohit Sharma was seen suddenly leaving India amidst his tournament practice.
The IPL 2026 season is ready to take off from March 28, with the MI camp ready to take on the Kolkata Knight Riders for their inaugural clash on March 29 at Wankhede. However, the sudden and untimely departure of Rohit Sharma has baffled fans.
Rohit Smoked Deliveries In MI Training Sessions
Just ahead of his sudden exit from the Mumbai Indians camp, the Indian cricketer was seen in several videos on the franchise’s social media handles where he launched deliveries for mammoth towering shots while even exchanging banter with his mate Shardul Thakur.
Losing more than 10 kilos of bodyweight and looking sharper than ever, Rohit Sharma has been a charmer on the field ever since his T20I and Test cricket retirement.

Rohit As A Powerful Opener For MI in IPL
Rohit's IPL 2025 season came as one of his best, where he scored 418 runs from 15 encounters. All this while not being at his absolute physical best, he averaged 29.85 and struck at 149.28 with his ever-cream power-hitting abilities from the very beginning.
Interestingly, adding to his flamboyant batting style as an opener for the Mumbai Indians, Rohit has bagged 265 boundaries and 109 sixes in powerplays while averaging 28.7.
Similarly, while chasing, he has been effective in the first six overs, striking at 125.4 while having 61 sixes and 114 boundaries to his name.
Rohit Sharma Departs For London Ahead Of IPL 2026
Just a week ahead of the start of the mega tournament, Sharma was spotted at the Mumbai airport on March 19 as he departed for London.
He was seen wearing beige trousers, a brown-coloured T-shirt, white sneakers, and a cap, and sportingly waved at media personnel and security staff before heading into the terminal.
His sudden departure has sparked curiosity, as there has been no official reason provided for his trip to London ahead of the mega tournament he has been preparing for.
What Business Rohit Might Have in London?
Although there has been no confirmation of Rohit owning any property or business in London, there were rumours in 2025 about a potential property investment in the city.
Currently, Rohit Sharma owns a luxurious 6,000-square-foot apartment in Worli, Mumbai, and has invested in several Indian startups, including CricKingdom, MyGate, and UpGrad.
Mumbai Indians IPL 2026 Schedule
While the reason behind his travel remains unclear, the MI camp is gearing up for their opening clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.
They are scheduled to face Delhi Capitals on April 4 and Rajasthan Royals on April 7, before taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 12, ahead of the announcement of the IPL Phase 2 schedule.
