The BCCI is expected to discuss the future of legendary Indian opening batter Rohit Sharma. Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy notched up an epic 350-run knock against South Africa A. In other news, the SLC has named Sri Lanka squads for the upcoming tour of England.

Rohit Sharma’s future to be discussed in BCCI meeting

The future of former Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be discussed at an upcoming BCCI meeting in Mumbai on Thursday, September 3. As per reports, the meeting will be attended by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, COE head VVS Laxman and head coach Gautam Gambhir.

The report also states that certain BCCI officials do not appear to be on the same page with Sharma’s future, as the legendary opener prepares himself for next year’s 2027 World Cup. 

Litton Das to lead Bangladesh in Asian Games 2026

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-player Bangladesh squad for the upcoming Men’s Asian Games 2026 in Japan. Senior wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das will lead the national side, and Towhid Hridoy will serve as his deputy.

The team also includes fellow star performers in the form of Saif Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud among others.

Towhid Hridoy charts historic triple ton vs South Africa A

Bangladesh cricketer Towhid Hridoy completed 350* runs off 481 balls with 27 boundaries and 10 sixes. Batting at number four and leading the Bangladesh A side against South Africa A at Potchefstroom, his innings helped his team secure a high-scoring draw in the second unofficial Test.

Hridoy also became only the third Bangladesh cricketer in history to score a first-class triple century, and the first to chart 350 or more runs in a single innings.

Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka to helm SL in England

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced Sri Lanka’s complete squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of England. Kusal Mendis will lead both sides, and former skipper Charith Asalanka will serve as the team’s vice-captain

As per the schedule, the Sri Lanka cricket team is set to take on hosts England in a series of three T20Is and three ODI matches this month between September 15 and September 27.

India to host Women’s ICC Champions Trophy 2027

The inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, set to be played next year, will now be hosted by India. Just a few days ago, the ICC moved the tournament from Sri Lanka citing political interferences in the SLC.

The ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 will be a six-team event, and all matches will be played in Mumbai and Vadodara between February 14 and February 28.
