In a significant development, England have announced their squad for the third Test against Pakistan. The hosts will be looking to finish the series strongly after taking a commanding lead in the opening two matches.

England has already secured the three-match Test series against Pakistan with a 2-0 advantage, winning at Headingley and Lord’s, and will now look to complete a clean sweep in the final Test.

The third Test between Pakistan and England is set to begin on September 9 at Edgbaston in Birmingham, with England naming a squad that will aim to deliver another strong performance at home.

England have revealed their 15-member squad for the third Test against Pakistan, with the group largely unchanged from the previous match. Matthew Fisher is the only player missing from the squad this time.

Brydon Carse Continues To Be Dropped After Handcuff Controversy

England’s third Test squad has been announced, and there is a notable absence once again, with fast bowler Brydon Carse continuing to miss out following the recent handcuff controversy in Derby.

Carse was spotted being led away from a nightclub by police on Saturday, August 22, with footage later circulating on social media showing the England bowler surrounded by officers while wearing handcuffs.

The ECB dropped Carse from England's squad for second Test at Lord’s following the nightclub controversy, but he returned to county cricket for Durham against Gloucestershire and claimed four wickets in the match. Despite that, he continues to be overlooked, as seen by his absence from England’s 3rd Test squad.

England Unfazed By Brydon Carse Absence

Brydon Carse’s controversy has done little to distract England, with Joe Root’s men remaining clinical against a struggling Pakistan team. Their 2-0 series lead underlines how brilliantly they have maintained their focus.

The pace attack has responded brilliantly without Carse, with Ollie Robinson leading the way and Josh Tongue providing excellent support. Jofra Archer has also impressed and retained his place in England’s third Test squad.

Key bowling numbers for England vs Pakistan in the series

  • Ollie Robinson: 16 wickets, 7.18 average.
  • Josh Tongue: 13 wickets, 14.30 strike-rate.
  • Jofra Archer: 8 wickets in the series.

However, the batting has not been convincing, but England have retained the same core for the third test. They will hope their batters improve while the bowlers continue their dominance and deliver a clean sweep at Edgbaston.
