On Saturday, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals came face to face at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The hosts won the toss and opted to field first. The decision turned into gold as the Axar Patel-led side restricted Mumbai to just 162 runs. The bowlers were on song for the Delhi Capitals, except Kuldeep Yadav.

Talking about the first innings, Mukesh Kumar set the tone with two wickets, and the likes of Lungi Ngidi and Axar Patel capitalised on it with scalps in the later overs. However, Kuldeep Yadav had a difficult day as the left-arm spinner didn’t even complete his quota of overs.

Kuldeep Yadav Registers Rare Failure In Delhi

Kuldeep has been Delhi’s star spinner over the years, but today he registered the figures of 0/31 in his three overs. The batters managed to pick the bowler, and the star Indian spinner seemed clueless at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It is a rare sight to see Kuldeep not completing his quota.

The only time Kuldeep came close to picking a wicket was of Rohit Sharma. Notably, in Kuldeep’s second over, he bowled a delivery down the leg side, which Rohit looked to hit. However, the hitman completely missed it, and Kuldeep was confident that he heard a noise.

KL Rahul was also confident, which made Axar Patel opt for a review. Eventually, the review showed that there was no edge, and the Delhi Capitals lost a review.

Rohit Sharma Reveals Fooling Kuldeep Yadav

During the review, Rohit Sharma was seen interacting with Kuldeep Yadav, and it quickly became a talking point on the internet. For the unversed, the hitman eventually scored 35 (26) and took the orange cap. During the mid-match interaction, the hitman shed light on the moment with the DC spinner and admitted to fooling him into taking a review.

Rohit Sharma revealed that he knew Kuldeep loves to take reviews and he just tricked him into taking one, which eventually went in his favour.

“I was just trying to walk there,I know Kuldeep,he likes to take the DRS as soon as there is a 50-50 chance. I was just trying my luck there, and it turned out in our favour,” revealed Rohit Sharma while speaking to the presenter.

Rohit Sharma Starts IPL 2026 On A Positive Note

As mentioned above, Rohit Sharma won the orange cap after his innings. He has started the IPL 2026 on a high. The hitman has scored 113 runs in two innings, averaging 56.50. He has a strike-rate of 176.56.

It is the first time that Rohit held the orange cap in a long long time. However, the moment was short lived because Sameer Rizvi took the cap from him in the second innings. Talking about the Delhi Capitals, at the time of writing this article, Rizvi is batting on 59 (37) and has surpassed hitman's tally.
