Fans Upset As Suryakumar Yadav Lead Mumbai Indians
Rohit Sharma, as captain, needs no introduction. The MI opener has lifted five titles with the Mumbai Indians. However, ahead of IPL 2024, the hitman was sacked as the captain. Hardik Pandya took over from him and is still searching for his first title as MI captain.
Initially, MI faced considerable backlash for the transition, but eventually, the fans came to terms with the decision. However, there was this understanding that Rohit will return to lead the side in case Pandya misses out.
The same was expected for today’s game, but fans were disappointed not to see Rohit Sharma lead the side. They took to social media platforms to express their anger. Here are some of the reactions.

Rohit Sharma Performing Well After Leaving Captaincy
Notably, Rohit Sharma scored 400+ runs across 2024 and 2025 IPL season. It was the first time since 2019 that the hitman crossed 400 run mark in an IPL season, a feat that occurred after the 38-year-old was removed from captaincy.
Rohit Sharma has also got off to a brillinat start in IPL 2026 as well. In the first match against Kolkata Knight Riders, the hitman scored a brilliant 78 (38). He is just 30 runs away from orange cap.
For the ongoing season, Rohit Sharma has also shed a lot of extra kilos and look in his finest shape in years. There are a lot of expectations from the hitman and the right-handed batter has done well so far.
Mumbai Indians Off To Shaky Start vs Delhi Capitals
During the toss, Suryakumar Yadav remarked that MI would have opted to bat first. However, the decision turned out to be a nightmare as the five-time winners lost two early wickets. Mukesh Kumar set the platform for Delhi Capitals.
In the 3rd over of the game, Mukesh returned for his 2nd over of the match and he took two wickets in a single match. The right-arm seamer got the wicket of Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma.
At the time of writing this article, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav are at the crease. The two most-talked about figures at the moment. Further, Mumbai Indians are 27/2 after 4.1 overs.
