KL Rahul bashed online for poor performance [Source: Screengrabs]
KL Rahul hasn't been at his best in this IPL 2026. After an inaugural match failure, the Delhi Capitals opener failed while chasing against the Mumbai Indians too on April 4, 2026, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
KL Rahul suffered a duck against the Lucknow Super Giants and against the Mumbai Indians too, as he became the early prey of Deepak Chahar while eyeing a target of 163 runs.
Rahul Disappoints With His Knock Against MI
In the history of IPL, Rahul has been pretty much successful against Deepak Chahar whenever the duo faced each other. His strike rate against Chahar stands at 159 as from 100 deliveries, he managed to score 159 runs without getting dismissed even once.
However, Chahar got the better of Rahul in the crucial DC vs MI clash. This battle set up a painful memory for Rahul, who now stands with just 1 run after two matches in IPL 2026.
KL Rahul, who was given the responsibility of orchestrating DC's chase, saw himself getting dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal off the fourth delivery of the very first over.

While Rahul managed to take a single off the very first delivery of the over, Rahul gave his wicket to Ryan Rickelton. Chahal went in for a big inswinger, full in length, as he finished the ball down the leg side.
The DC opener went for the big shot, but the delivery, however, ended up sending it to Rickelton, who grabbed the ball towards his left with athletic prowess to send Rahul back to the pavilion.
Netizens Slam KL Rahul For Poor IPL 2026 Start
This howler from Rahul was unexpected. Given his prowess in T20I cricket against right-arm pacers, he averages 36.2 while striking at 144.7.
To be more specific, against right-arm seamers inside the powerplay in the IPL, KL Rahul has a solid average of 49.3 where he has played 116 innings and been dismissed only on 26 occasions, further underlining his confidence against the bowlers.
However, things went wrong against Mumbai Indians, and netizens were quick to realise it as they sent the India veteran for bashing on social media.

MI Scatter Early As Surya, Rohit Steer Ship
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, also did not have a dream start. They lost opener Ryan Rickelton and then Tilak Varma quickly inside three overs, with only Rohit Sharma firing with his 26-ball 35.
Suryakumar Yadav played a captain's knock of 36-ball 51 before Lungi Ngidi got him LBW. Sherfane Rutherford disappointed too. However, Naman Dhir and Mitchell Santner's brisk innings helped MI rack up their total to 162 runs at the end of 20 overs.
From the Delhi Capitals camp, Mukesh Kumar was the highest wicket-taker in the IPL match, picking up two wickets from his three overs, while Lungi Ngidi, Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam, and T Natarajan picked up one wicket each.
