Riyan Parag has taken a significant step towards his return to Indian team. The Indian all-rounder has started training at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) following shoulder surgery in June.

Parag has been out of action since the conclusion of IPL 2026. His latest progress offers a positive sign as he works towards regaining full fitness and returning to competitive cricket.

Riyan Parag Spotted With Bat For First Time Since June Shoulder Surgery

Riyan Parag had been struggling with a shoulder injury for the past two years before finally undergoing surgery in June 2026. The procedure came after he completed his first IPL season as Rajasthan Royals' full-time captain.

In August, Parag shared an Instagram post showing his rehabilitation work as he began rebuilding his fitness from scratch. The Indian all-rounder focused on his recovery as fans awaited his return to competitive cricket.

Moreover, Parag was also spotted watching the Duleep Trophy 2026 action from the sidelines at the CoE. His presence at the facility offered a glimpse into his recovery journey following the shoulder surgery earlier this year.

Fast forward to October, Riyan Parag shared another Instagram update, showing himself holding a bat and facing underarm bowling at the CoE. It remains a positive sign as he continues working towards regaining full fitness.

Riyan Parag Begins India Return Push With 2027 ODI World Cup In Sight

With the 2027 ODI World Cup in the African continent less than a year away, India's white-ball regulars will be eager to secure their places. Riyan Parag will also have the World Cup in mind.

Although Parag remains behind several established names in the pecking order, his ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him a valuable option. His all-round skills could help him strengthen his case for India's ODI setup.

Parag was part of India's white-ball plans before a shoulder injury ruled him out of the South Africa tour in 2024. He could target a return through Assam in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, starting December 14, to get back on India's World Cup plans.
