On Thursday, June 11, India star Riyan Parag revealed that he has undergone successful surgery. The RR captain penned an emotional note on Instagram, where he opened up about his long-time injury.
Riyan Parag was named vice-captain for India A’s ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka, but the right-handed batter got ruled out because of injury. Eventually, Ruturaj Gaikwad replaced him and was named as the team's deputy.
Riyan Parag Undergoes Shoulder Surgery
Notably, for the past couple of months, Riyan Parag had trouble with his hamstring. However, much to everyone’s surprise, the 24-year-old revealed that he has undergone a shoulder injury. Parag posted a photo on Instagram from his hospital bed.
The RR captain stated that he has had shoulder pain for the last two years, and it was about time that he opted for surgery. Interestingly, Parag shared no update on his hamstring injury and whether he will be undergoing a surgery for that too or not.
Nonetheless, Parag shared an emotional note on Instagram on his shoulder injury.
Riyan Parag Pens Emotional Note On Instagram
"Well, the shoulder finally won. For everyone who's been asking, the surgery is done and went well. The past two years have tested me in ways I never expected. There were good days, frustrating days, and days when simply getting through a game was a challenge. But I wouldn't have wanted it any other way."
"Now comes a different challenge- recovery, rehab and patience. I'll be back doing what I love soon. See you on the other side."

Riyan Parag Looking To Put Behind Poor IPL Season Behind
Riyan Parag has had a frustrating IPL season. The right-handed batter was made the permanent captain of Rajasthan Royals for the first time in his career before the start of the season. However, the 24-year-old failed to make full use of it.
In IPL 2026, Riyan Parag played 14 matches and missed two games because of his hamstring injury. He didn't even once mentioned about a troubled shoulder. Despite the injury, Parag scored 308 runs in 14 innings, averaging just 23.69 with the bat.
Parag had a brief good period in IPL 2026, where he scored two consecutive fifty-plus scores, including a 90-run innings against Delhi Capitals.
How Much Time Will Riyan Parag Take To Recover From Shoulder Injury?
Parag didn't reveal his injury, but since he has now undergone a surgery, he won't be able to return to the field in the next couple of months. From now on, Parag will focus on his recovery, rehab and look to return in time for the upcoming domestic season.
At present, Parag is out of scheme of things from the Indian team and will look to make a comeback at the highest-level of game with an impressive domestic season.
