After days of speculations and emerging reports, Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav have finally swapped franchises for next year’s IPL 2027 season. The LSG skipper has now moved to his former franchise, the Delhi Capitals, shortly after failing to guide his IPL 2026 team into the playoffs.
The move also marks a homecoming of sorts for Kuldeep, considering the left-arm wrist-spinner represents Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket, a state that happens to be the base of the LSG franchise.
Rishabh Pant re-joins Delhi Capitals, Kuldeep to move to LSG
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant is set to re-join the Delhi Capitals franchise for next year’s IPL 2027 season. The legendary Indian wicketkeeper-batter was traded in by the Capitals for a staggering sum of Rs. 15 crores.

Interestingly, Pant was acquired by the LSG a couple of seasons ago in a record-breaking Rs. 27 crore deal. The cricketer led the LSG franchise during his two-year stint, but failed to take them past the opening round in both, IPL 2025 and IPL 2026 seasons.
Kuldeep Yadav, on the other hand, will be joining LSG to mark his third different franchise in the IPL. The ace spinner started off his IPL career back in 2016 with the KKR. He spent five seasons with the franchise, before joining the Delhi Capitals for another five-season stint.
With the Capitals, Kuldeep Yadav nabbed 72 wickets in 63 innings to emerge as one of their most successful bowlers.
The senior Indian spinner is joining the LSG camp at his existing fee of Rs. 13.50 crores.
Rishabh Pant exits LSG after dismal stint
Rishabh Pant joined the LSG camp prior to the IPL 2025 season for a sum of Rs. 27 crores, one of the highest for any player in the history of the tournament.
However, the decorated Indian wicketkeeper-batter failed to justify his hefty price tag. Under his leadership, the LSG franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs in each season. Moreover, in this year’s IPL 2026, LSG finished at the bottom of the 10-team points table with mere four wins from 14 matches.
The situation became so dire, that Pant stepped down as captain shortly after the IPL 2026 season. However, several reports indicated that it was the LSG franchise who forced the cricketer to relinquish his role.
Even with the bat, the 28-year-old aggregated just 581 runs in 26 innings spanning both seasons at a dismal average of 26.40.
Back with the Delhi Capitals for IPL 2027, Rishabh Pant will be hoping that a return to familiar surroundings helps him rediscover his best form and revive a career that has stalled over the past two seasons.
Kuldeep Yadav ends Capitals stint after worst IPL season
Much like Rishabh Pant, Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav is also leaving his Capitals franchise after undergoing one of his worst IPL seasons.
In 12 innings of IPL 2026, the 31-year-old managed to bag just 10 wickets at an expensive bowling average of 38.10 and a dismal economy rate of 10.29.
The move to LSG now offers Kuldeep an opportunity to put a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign behind him and begin a fresh chapter closer to home.
