Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a national phenomenon now. As the 15-year-old talent from Bihar is set for his national debut for India in the Ireland series starting from June 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had some cryptic praise for him to say.
Sooryavanshi's praise has been a common wave on and off the internet, especially after the Indian Premier League 2026. The RR star boy broke multiple records and slowly carved his way up to national selection.
The management showed faith in Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and it seems like his heroics have also reached the apex chambers of the country, to be more specific, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
Vaibhav And The Path To His National Success
From someone who wasn’t even on the domestic circuit properly two years ago, to debuting for India at the age of 15, Vaibhav rose fast. The fastest-ever List A/ODI half-centurion stormed IPL seasons for his franchise, Rajasthan Royals and never looked back.
After Sooryavanshi’s IPL 2026 season was filled with records piling on each other, the BCCI and the India team management decided to call the young talent up without further delay.
The Ireland T20Is would see him debuting alongside other firebrand openers of India, Abhishek Sharma, as the whole country would hope for him to succeed, much like he did for India A in the Sri Lanka Tri-Series Final.

PM Narendra Modi Praises Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Sooryavanshi heroics reverberated throughout the country, and it was well acknowledged when the Prime Minister of India himself attributed his destructive nature with the bat.
While attending the Republic Summit 2026 in New Delhi this week, Narendra Modi praised Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on air. The Modi government, known for its aggressive and quick-action attitude, found similarities with the RR wonderkid’s cricket-playing style.
While addressing economic transformation and national security of the country, Modi brought up the example of Vaibhav.
"It is very important for the country to understand the character of these people, especially for the youth of my country to recognise who they really are. Our Gen Z also needs to understand this very quickly. If they don't understand soon, then Sooryavanshi has arrived, and he explains things in a very fast-paced manner,” Narendra Modi said during the meet.

Modi’s speech was more of an exemplary nature that stressed how monstrous Sooryavanshi can be with the bat and how the next generation is prepared to take quick actions just like the Bihar cricketer.
Vaibhav Ready For Ireland Action
As India's senior team have already travelled to Ireland for their opening clash of the T20I at Belfast, Sooryavanshi have travelled alongside them in the hope of finding a place in the Playing XI.
From the looks of it, it is very likely that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be finding a place as the opener for India in the Ireland series, besides Abhishek Sharma.
Both explosive options for India would do much of the work in the powerplays and might build a solid foundation for the anchors, Tilak Varma and Shreyas Iyer, to build on.
After the June 26 match, India will face Ireland again on June 28 at Belfast to conclude the two-match T20I series.
