Mumbai Indians (MI) often get criticised for match-fixing, whether it's due to the years of unreal dominance in the competition or to unexpected changes that bring them into the game out of nowhere. RCB’s Tim David, on Sunday evening, became the latest addition to the list who raised doubts about MI.

After ripping apart CSK earlier in IPL 2026, David was at his absolute best once again, this time at Wankhede Stadium against MI. In between, he had taken some time having a conversation with the on-field umpires, as well as keeping a close eye on the ball, which eventually landed him in serious trouble.

Tim David Raises Doubts Over Ball-Tampering In IPL

The incident happened during the 18th over of RCB’s innings when David smashed MI captain Hardik Pandya for a huge six. The on-field umpires, Virender Sharma and Swaroopanand Kannur, felt the ball was wet, and therefore, they decided to change the ball.

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav took the new ball and gave it to the umpires. Tim David then took the ball all by himself and kept on tossing the ball.

The on-field umpires asked them to give it back, but David kept on tossing the ball.

Eventually, umpires took the ball from David and then, gave the Australian a warning for doing that.

While receiving the warning, David kept on saying the umpires that he had doubts over the shape of the ball, and that’s why, he kept on checking it.

Not to forget, Pakistan Super League (PSL) recently had a ball-tampering controversy, for which Fakhar Zaman had to pay the price.

RCB Finish With 240/4 Vs MI

Riding on Phil Salt’s 36-ball 78, coupled with David’s 16-ball 34 and captain Rajat Patidar’s 20-ball 53, RCB closed on 240/4 after Hardik Pandya asked them to bat first.

Virat Kohli made a half-century as well, but he took 37 balls to get there in a match where everyone went all guns blazing.

For MI, only Jasprit Bumrah was the most economical bowler. However, he is yet to open his account in IPL 2026, although he only conceded 35 runs off his four overs.

MI In Chase With Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton In Middle

Meanwhile, the chase is on at Wankhede Stadium, as Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton are in the middle. The five-time IPL champions are 21/0 after 2 overs, with Rickelton taking the charge.

Not to forget, MI are eighth on the IPL points table, having won once on three occasions. RCB, on the other hand, are third on the chart, with two victories in three attempts so far in the competition.
