The IPL 2026 has witnessed a different Virat Kohli- Someone who is never shying away from taking down the opposition bowlers. He always had the gears inside him to play an attacking brand of T20 cricket, but this IPL has been different as Kohli has played with more freedom, and the result- He is one of the leading run-scorers this campaign.

Kohli is perhaps the best batter of this generation when it comes to facing raw pace. He has that one extra second when taking on the fast bowlers, and it was evident during the GT Vs RCB IPL 2026 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Kohli punishes Rabada with 5 boundaries in a row

Mohammed Siraj, the right-arm pacer, bowled a tidy first over, as he conceded just 6 runs. Captain Shubman Gill gave Kagiso Rabada, the second over, and the decision turned out to be a nightmare for him, and the team.

The over started with a boundary as Kohli pulled Rabada towards the deep mid-wicket region. It was then followed by a lofted shot over the covers as the RCB batter had struck two boundaries in a row. The next three deliveries had a Virat Kohli footprint written all over them.

He smoked Rabada for three back-to-back boundaries towards the off-side, with each shot going past the backward point region as the batter toyed with the GT field placement.

Kohli joins Rohit Sharma in six-hitting feat

After taking down Rabada with utmost ease, Kohli went after his former RCB teammate, Mohammed Siraj, as he danced down the track and smacked him for a huge six. In the process, he became just the second Indian after Rohit Sharma to smack 450 T20 sixes.

Rohit currently has 555 T20 sixes, while Kohli has just entered the list, and now exactly has 450 huge hits in this format.

Kohli dismissed after fiery start in GT Vs RCB

It was a different Kohli we witnessed in the GT Vs RCB IPL 2026 match. Put into bat first, RCB needed an aggressive start from their two openers, and this is when Kohli came to life as he played a nice little cameo.

Kohli went aggressive against both Rabada and Siraj, and the batter scored a quickfire 28 off 13 balls, with a strike rate of 215 as he laid a platform for a clinical RCB finish towards the end. Rabada eventually had his man as he dismissed the RCB opener in his second over.
