Rahul Dravid's Son Announces Arrival In India U19 Game [Source: X]
In a significant development, Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay Dravid, belted an attacking knock during India’s U19 game against Sri Lanka U19. His innings helped India post a competitive total on the board.
Anvay got an opportunity to play in the U19 squad after his promising performance in club-level cricket. While the weight of his father’s legacy weighed on his shoulders, the young lad proved himself on the big stage against Sri Lanka.
Anvay Dravid hits it out of the park in the U19 game
India U19 took on Sri Lanka U19 in the second unofficial Test held at the Hambantota stadium. Batting first, the men in blue suffered early blows as openers were dismissed with just 11 runs on the board.
From 81/4, Anvay Dravid walked out in difficult circumstances. But he showed remarkable maturity beyond his years. Instead of allowing Sri Lanka's bowlers to dominate, he steadied the innings with smart and conventional batting, just like his father, Rahul Dravid.
He stitched a 145-run partnership with Arjun Rajput to steal the momentum back into India’s favour. Anvay eventually scored 87 runs from just 67 deliveries, smashing nine boundaries and a six at an outstanding strike rate of 129.85.
Although he missed out on what would have been a well-deserved century, Dravid's innings was undoubtedly the defining performance of India's batting effort. He was eventually dismissed by Gimhan Mendis in the 44th over after guiding India to a commanding position.

Anvay Dravid’s selection happened on merit
Having said that, Anvay Dravid received a call-up for this U19 tour due to his solid resume and not just because he is the son of former Indian legend Rahul Dravid.
Before the Sri Lanka tour, Anvay led Karnataka's U19 team to the Vinoo Mankad Trophy quarter-finals. He scored 220 runs in six innings at an impressive average of 55.00 and earned selection as one of India's wicketkeeper-batters for the ODI squad.
However, his India U19 journey didn't begin smoothly. His only previous appearance for India B U19 ended with a first-ball duck against Afghanistan U19. That meant he arrived in Sri Lanka still looking for his first significant innings in India colours.
India U19 posts a strong total
Meanwhile, back on the field, India U19 posted a total of 285 runs on the board in the second unofficial ODI vs Sri Lanka U19. Anvay Dravid was the star as he scored 87 runs.
Arjun Rajput supported him from the other end, scoring 76 runs at a strike rate of 93. The duo’s partnership helped India get back in the game after losing 4 wickets early.
Meanwhile, for Sri Lanka U19, Gimhan Mendis picked up a five-wicket haul for 41 runs in 8.2 overs. Kavija Gamage also contributed with 2 wickets as Sri Lanka managed to get India bowled out.
India are already leading the 3-game ODI series by 1-0 after winning the first game by 4 wickets.
