The U19 World Champions, India, are set to return to the field as the fresh two-year cycle gets underway with a tour of Sri Lanka in the coming months, as it was officially announced earlier on Wednesday evening.
The fresh cycle will see a plethora of new faces turning up for the Boys in Blue as per the BCCI guidelines, which clearly state that a player can only participate in one U19 World Cup. This means someone like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, despite being eligible for the tour, would not feature in it, making it a bit of an even affair between the two teams.

Stacked 2026 for India U19
The Sri Lanka series is India U19’s first assignment after the win over England U19 earlier this year. This means a lot of players are set to go under the hit and trial in the coming months before the BCCI finalize their best lot of 15 by the time the next U19 World Cup comes in 2028.
For the gradual and consistent development of players in this period, much like 2024, Australia U19 will travel to India after India is done with the Sri Lanka tour.
In the Australia series, the teams will play each other in three Youth List A (One-Day) matches from September 18 to 23 in Rajkot. It will then be followed by a Youth Test in Rajkot from September 27 to 30, and the series will conclude in Ahmedabad, where the second and last Youth Test will commence from October 5 to 8.
By the end of these two series against Sri Lanka and Australia, the BCCI will have a rough idea of the best players from the next crop to build a core around them.
