India's maiden World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, has had a unique relationship with Yograj Singh, his former India colleague and a confidant of his younger days. Once, the two shared an unbreakable bond, but as life happened, the two Chandigarh-based cricketers grew distant.

Kapil Dev became one of the most successful all-rounders ever, while Yograj Singh could only play a solitary ODI fixture for India. However, the latter fulfilled his dreams through his son, Yuvraj Singh.

Meanwhile, Yograj has openly criticised the legendary all-rounder and even gave him death threat, for which his son had to apologise to the 1983 World Cup-winning captain.

Kapil Dev refers to Yograj Singh as a bitter person

Kapil Dev recently spoke about his relationship with Yograj Singh. Talking on a podcast with Sports Tak, the former India skipper called Yograj a friend, but also referred to him as a “bitter person”

Furthermore, he advised his friend to change his attitude, stating, “People don’t love a bitter person”, as his son, Yuvraj Singh, has achieved so much in life.

“I don’t know what he (Yograj Singh) is trying to say (sweatly laughs). He is still a good friend of mine; I don’t have any grudge against him. However, I don't like being around bitter people; I prefer happy people. If you're a bitter person, people won't love you,” Kapil Dev told Sports Tak.

“There is so much in life, one needs to move on. If you are a bitter person, people won’t love you. His son has achieved so much, and he should be happy. You don’t get everything in life, sometimes someone else in family gets it on your behalf,” he added.

Kapil Dev speaks highly of Yuvraj Singh

In the same podcast, Kapil Dev spoke highly of Yuvraj Singh and asked the modern-day all-rounder not to apologise on his father's behalf.

“Yuvraj Singh doesn't need to apologise. Sometimes, things just happen in life. He was a great cricketer and an absolutely fabulous player. I believe he made cricket even more popular. People loved the way he played the game,” Kapil Dev said while appreciating Yuvraj Singh.

Just like Kapil Dev in 1983, Yuvraj Singh was India's X-Factor during the 2027 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. He helped the Men in Blue win the inaugural ICC T20 event with his bat, while the spinning all-rounder contributed in all three facets to win the Player of the Tournament in 2011.

Commonilty between Kapil Dev and Yuvraj Singh!

Although Kapil Dev and Yuvraj Singh were different types of all-rounders, both the cricketers had a common thing in them: the never-to-die attitude.

Comparing the two won't be fair on them, but statitically, Yuvraj scored more international runs, while Kapil was way ahead in terms of wickets.

The 44-year-old all-rounder ended his career with 11,778 runs and 148 wickets, while the 67-year-old poineer finished with 9,031 runs and 687 wickets.
