Mohsin Naqvi's PCB could modify PSL 2026 schedule and venues [Source: X]
In a significant development, it has been understood that the PSL 2026 schedule and the PSL 2026 venues may change due to the ongoing war between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Pakistan Super League is set to kick off on March 26, with defending champions Lahore Qalandars taking on the newly formed Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
It's worth mentioning that this year's Pakistan Super League will witness 44 matches, including four playoff fixtures. The Pakistani T20 league has been expanded to eight teams, and the matches will be held across six cities- Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.
However, with only eight days left for the season opener, it has been reported that the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB might modify the PSL 2026 schedule as well as the PSL 2026 venues, owing to the geopolitical tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Australian players could be doubtful for Peshawar Zalmi Vs Rawalpindi PSL match
The Pakistan Super League this season will witness the participation of several Australian players.
While veteran cricketer Marnus Labuschagne has been appointed as the captain of the Hyderabad Kingsmen, Aaron Hardie, David Warner, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Adam Zampa are the other prominent faces to feature in the tournament.
Aaron Hardie is a part of the Peshawar Zalmi squad, while Jake Fraser-McGurk will represent the newly formed Rawalpindi Pindiz in the tournament.
However, these two players might be doubtful for the high-voltage clash between Peshawar and Rawalpindi, owing to the military conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
As per the official PSL 2026 schedule, the third group-stage match between Peshawar Zalmi and the Pindiz will be played at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar. Interestingly, this is the only match in the city, which is bearing the brunt of the war between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Peshawar is a sensitive zone from the geopolitical standpoint, as it has suffered the direct consequences of the ongoing armed conflict.

Due to its close proximity to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the Australian government has already issued an advisory, warning its citizens against travelling to the war-affected region.
Therefore, the Australian players picked by the Peshawar and Rawalpindi teams might opt out of the encounter, prompting the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB to amend the PSL 2026 schedule as well as the PSL 2026 venues.
Mohsin Naqvi's PCB could relocate the Peshawar Vs Rawalpindi PSL match
The tensions in Peshawar undoubtedly raise serious security concerns for the PSL-bound players as well as the support staff.
As reported by Code Sports journalist Daniel Cherny, the Pakistan-Afghanistan war and the potential unavailability of several players, particularly Australians, could force the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB to shift the Zalmi Vs Rawalpindi encounter from Peshawar.
What could be alternative venue and dates for Zalmi Vs Rawalpindi match?
Although an alternative venue for the high-stakes contest hasn't been announced, it's assumed that the Rawalpindi cricket stadium might host the game due to the participation of the Pindiz franchise.
Additionally, the board has yet to figure out a suitable alternative date for the Pindiz Vs Peshawar Zalmi PSL match.
No league-stage matches in the PSL have been scheduled for March 30, April 7, 14, 20, or 27. So, it's a definite possibility that this match could be rescheduled on one of these dates. Thus, we may see some tweaks to the PSL 2026 schedule and the PSL 2026 venues days prior to the commencement of the tournament.
