The recently concluded edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) turned out to be an exhibition for its fans. The season was a chartbuster despite the majority of the tournament being played behind closed doors.

From the eleventh season onwards, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expanded the lucrative tournament from eight to ten teams. Hyderabad Kingsmen, the runners-up of PSL 2026, and Rawalpindiz were the latest entrants.

As all ten teams played 10 league games each before the playoffs, the league saw an increase in the the number of matches from a 34-match season to 44. As a result, the PCB has recorded massive profits from the PSL 2026.

PSL 2026 made profits of 7.5 billion

According to the latest report by Samaa TV, the PCB has earned whopping profits of PKR 7.549 billion (approximately INR 260 crore) from the recently concluded PSL 2026

Reportedly, the board made over PKR 10 billion (INR 340 crore approximately) from the lucrative franchise league, and recorded a meagre expenditure of PKR 2.645 billion (INR 90 crore approx).

"Details submitted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat regarding PSL income and expenditure showed that the league's expansion to eight teams in 2026 produced significant financial gains," the report from Samaa TV stated.

"The PSL 2026 recorded total expenditure of more than Rs2.645 billion, while overall revenue exceeded Rs10.195 billion. The PCB earned a pre-tax profit of more than Rs7.549 billion from PSL Season 11," it added.

If the reports are to be believed, the the PCB has earned 3.75x more than they made in the previous season. "During PSL 2025, the PCB recorded a profit of Rs2 billion, while profit from PSL 2024 stood at Rs2.46 billion."

How much franchise, PCB will get from PSL 2026 profits?

The same report from the Samaa TV has revealed that the PCB will take around 18% of the profits made in the PSL 2026. Interestingly, the board has earned PKR 1.29 billion (approx. INR 45 crore).

"The PCB's share from the central revenue pool stood at more than Rs1.29 billion," the report mentioned.

After the PCB’s profit, the shares for the 10 franchises will be left with PKR 6.25 billion. It means one franchise would have made around PKR 625 million (INR 21 crore) in PSL 2026.

In comparison to the IPL, the PSL just makes peanuts. According to the Times of India, the Indian franchise had earned revenue of around INR 500-600 crore in FY2025.

PSL 2026 profits a win for Pakistan

The PSL 2026 saw countless nail-biting clashes. Babar Azam's Peshawar Zalmi were crowned champions of the season, with skipper Babar (588 runs) leading from the front.

He was aided by Kusal Mendis (550 runs) and Sufiyan Muqeem as the Zalmi bagged their second PSL trophy.

Despite being played behind closed doors and coinciding with the IPL 2026, if the Pakistan T20 extravaganza had made that much profit, it is a win for the sport in the country, which has unearthed some legendary cricketers.
