Punjab Kings grabbed headlines for the wrong seasons
Apart from lacking on the field, the Punjab Kings also came under fire for off-field banter and controversies. Their social media jibes caused uproar on multiple occasions.
Moreover, Shreyas Iyer’s sister, Shresta, shared a video mocking KKR on social media, which resurfaced after PBKS’ exit and led to heavy trolling directed at her and the family.
Apart from these, PBKS players were accused of being complacent in the second half of the tournament. Reports claimed that players didn’t turn up for practice and instead stayed up all night playing video games.
Prabhsimran Singh was also accused of gaining weight during the season, but those allegations were never proved with any substantial evidence.
What’s the road ahead for PBKS?
That being said, the Punjab Kings must move past the disappointing season. They are the same unit that qualified for the final in IPL 2025. If not for the fielding lapses, PBKS would have definitely made it to the playoffs.
They still have a strong and balanced unit. Captain Shreyas Iyer is a strong leader with a winning mindset. Hence, under his leadership, the Kings can regroup in 2027.
Punjab Kings are one of the few teams in the IPL to have not won an IPL title ever. Hence, next year, they must turn up with renewed energy and extra motivation to accomplish the unfinished business.
