India's T20 Decision Maker Reacts To Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Mayhem, Drops Big Hint

The Vaibhav Sooryavanshi masterclass in IPL 2026 Eliminator between SRH and RR has impressed multiple cricket stars. From the cricketing fraternity to India veterans, all have unanimously lauded Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's epic innings where he smashed a 29-ball 97 at Mullanpur. 

As Sooryavanshi almost broke the record of Chris Gayle, the young 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals star was particularly praised by India T20I captain Surya Kumar Yadav on his official social media handle.

SKY Lauds The Sooryavanshi Madness

Suryakumar Yadav hasn't been particularly known for putting up Instagram stories praising cricketers. However, this was a special mention from the India captain, which calls for a big hint that Sooryavanshi might be in the thoughts of the BCCI and the India think tank for inclusion in the T20 format soon enough.

While IPL 2025 already sparked discussions about his inclusion, the 2026 season has further cemented the possibility of him playing in the Blues. Sooryavanshi's glamorous performance at Mullanpur had Suryakumar Yadav put up a special Instagram story for the wonder kid.

Special Instagram Story For Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

At around 11 PM IST, Surya posted a picture of the kid heading back towards the pavilion after the mammoth knock. Vaibhav was largely dejected and in much despair after getting dismissed by Praful Hinge, but SKY posted an appreciative story to laud the youngster. 

Surya wrote, "Chin up, boy, what a class inning, you have taken everyone's breath away. Star in the making."

While Surya's story had an appreciative tone, the "star in the making" line particularly hints that the Indian management, as well as the India T20I captain, is seeing him coming up on the big stage to impress the world. 

How Likely Is Vaibhav's Inclusion In The India National Team?

Although, as of now, Abhishek Sharma is the primary T20I opener for India, who also rose up the ranks after his dominant performances for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is yet another potential that SKY and co. might think of. 

Although Abhishek Sharma is in poor form right now, Sooryavanshi's addition as an opener in the Men in Blue might make the invincible India team even stronger and more formidable against every opponent in the world. 

Whether Sooryavanshi makes his India debut soon or not will be something to look forward to, but as of now, his heroics have led Rajasthan Royals to Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans to be played on May 29.

Vaibhav's Mammoth IPL Season

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi currently boasts 680 runs from the 15 innings he has played in IPL 2026, while having an average of 45.33 and a mammoth strike rate of 242.86. 

This mega-successful tournament for the young sensation was preceded by the Under-19 World Cup 2025, where he managed to score at an average of 62.71, while having one century to his name, including an 80-ball 175 against the England Under-19 team.
