The end of the PSL 2026 season has increased the demand for several Pakistan stars for the upcoming T20 Blast season, which is set to begin later in May.

The latest name who has been given a go-ahead by the PCB as well as the county club to play the English domestic T20 competition is Usman Tariq, after creating a lot of buzz around his action. On Tuesday afternoon, the club officially announced his arrival, as he joins a plethora of other Pakistanis scheduled to play the tournament.

Usman Tariq to feature in T20 Blast

On Tuesday evening, Warwickshire County Cricket Club, based at the famous Edgbaston Stadium, confirmed that the mystery spinner will be available for the entirety of the T20 leg of their season.

Known as the Warwickshire Bears in the Blast, they announced Tariq's signing, saying they had to fight off competition from around the world to secure the player’s services.

“Usman is exactly the type of high-impact player we want to bring into Warwickshire, so we’re delighted to get this deal completed. His skill set and tactical awareness make him a genuine threat in modern white-ball cricket, but it’s his hunger to compete and continually improve that really stands out,” said the Warwickshire Bears’ Performance Director James Thomas.

This is going to be his maiden stint in the competition, which will also be followed by an extended stay in England to represent the Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, after the franchise bought him for £140,000 earlier this year.

Usman Tariq joins the list of Pakistanis in the T20 Blast

Previously, a few Pakistan players have already been announced to play the T20 Blast, which includes Hasan Ali, who will play for the Yorkshire Vikings, followed by leg-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, set to feature for the Derbyshire Falcons.

Usama Mir, who signed a three-year T20 deal with Worcestershire County in 2025, will continue to feature for them in the Worcestershire Rapids. Mohammad Abbas, who plays for Derbyshire also holds an NOC for the complete season alongside Yorkshire star Abdullah Shafique.

Mohammad Nawaz, who was signed by Surrey for the tournament, is one of the names who will not be joining the team after he found his name involved in a positive drug test earlier in the summer.

Usman Tariq in high demand

Backing up his impressive CPL season with the Trinbago Knight Riders, where he picked 20 wickets, Usman Tariq's T20 credentials have exponentially grown over the past 12 months.

He was also a part of the Desert Vipers, who won the recent ILT20 season and the 30-year-old picked 5 wickets in two innings only. In PSL, he has 21 wickets in 20 innings so far, emerging as a late bloomer for the Quetta Gladiators.

In the 9 T20Is played for the national team, including the recent T20 World Cup, he has picked 18 wickets in 8 innings as their x-factor bowler. His T20 economy reads only 6.95 runs per over, making him a bankable option.
