In a significant development, Scotland have announced their squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tour of Nepal, where they will face both the hosts and USA in a crucial tri-series, expected to play a key role for their qualification to the 2027 World Cup.
The series of matches will be held in Kirtipur, with Scotland scheduled to play four matches across May. With strong competition from Nepal and table-toppers USA, the fixtures promise high-intensity cricket as teams battle for valuable points in the league standings.
Scotland’s announcement also follows their participation in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026, where they played as a replacement for Bangladesh. With that campaign behind them, their focus shifted to the Cricket World Cup League 2 in Namibia, and now to Nepal for the challenges ahead.

Scotland eye crucial gains in Nepal tour
The tour to Nepal is a key opportunity for Scotland to strengthen their position in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 standings. Head coach Doug Watson emphasized the importance of facing strong teams like Nepal and USA in challenging conditions.
“It’s exciting to have the opportunity to travel to Nepal and play this series against two very strong sides,” he said. “The country is hugely passionate about cricket, and the crowds are always very vocal and fun to play in front of.”
Scotland will play all their matches at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, beginning their tour against Nepal on May 12. They will face Nepal again on May 18, while their fixtures against USA are scheduled for May 14 and May 20.
Scotland target 2027 World Cup qualification push
Scotland currently sit second in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 standings, just behind USA, with 34 points. Their performances in Nepal could prove decisive as they look to strengthen their chances of progressing in the qualification pathway.
With the 2027 Cricket World Cup set to be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, Scotland are focused on maintaining momentum. Strong results in this series would boost their confidence and position as they aim to secure a spot in the global qualifier.
