In an unexpected development, Pakistan’s PSL hero is set to get an opportunity to feature in England’s T20 league. This comes just hours after he achieved big heights in the PSL 2026 season.

On May 3, Peshawar Zalmi won the PSL 2026 title after beating Hyderabad Kingsmen in the final. It was a one-sided game as Zalmi restricted Hyderabad to just 129 runs, and the chase turned out to be a cake walk.

Sufiyan Muqeem to play for Derbyshire in T20 Blast

Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi spinner Sufiyan Muqeem emerged as the undisputed star of the PSL 2026 season, claiming Player of the Tournament after a remarkable campaign that saw him pick up 22 wickets in 11 innings.

He also won the Fazal Mehmood Cap for being the highest-wicket taker of the season. More than just numbers, it was his control and ability to dictate phases of play that set him apart.

Not only that, Muqeem is now getting rewarded for his brilliance in the PSL. According to the latest news, Derbyshire has signed Sufiyan Muqeem for the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast tournament. He will play the first six games for now.

This is a new assignment for Sufiyan Muqeem, as he will be making his debut in the Vitality T20 Blast tournament. Previously, he participated in the PSL and BPL.

Sufiyan Muqeem is Pakistan's emerging star

That being said, Pakistan will also keep a close eye on Sufiyan Muqeem, as he is one of their best emerging talents. The left-arm wrist spinner made his debut in 2023 and has since picked up 48 wickets across all formats.

He has a fifer for just 3 runs in the T20I format as well. Even in List A and First Class cricket, Muqeem’s average is under 25.

Hence, going forward, Sufiyan Muqeem is expected to be a regular face in Pakistan’s white-ball set-up.

If he manages to stay consistent, Pakistan may make him a regular face in the Test format as well. Regardless, the spinner still has a long way to go, as he is just 23 and is just peaking in competitive cricket.

Peshawar Zalmi are crowned as PSL 2026 champions

Meanwhile, Babar Azam led Peshawar Zalmi to their second title in the PSL as they beat Hyderabad Kingsmen in the PSL 2026 season final. Aaron Hardie picked 4 wickets in the first innings to bowl out Hyderabad for 129 runs.

Only Saim Ayub put up a fight for Kingsmen with a half-century, but the rest of the unit collapsed like a house of cards.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Kingsmen did see a ray of hope in the second innings as Mohammad Ali removed both the Zalmi openers in the powerplay. Babar Azam, for instance, was dismissed on a golden duck.

However, Aaron Hardie showed up with the bat as well, scoring a half-century, while Abdul Samad contributed with a crucial 48 runs to ensure Peshawar Zalmi wrapped up the chase in 15.2 overs only.
