New Zealand’s Bevon Jacobs has left the Quetta Gladiators squad in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026). Jacobs has left to join national cricketing duties for New Zealand as they prepare for their upcoming T20I series in Bangladesh.
Notably, New Zealand lost the three-match ODI series 1-2 to Bangladesh. Now the focus will shift to the three-match T20I series that begins on April 27 onwards. The first two of the three T20I matches will be played in Chattogram, while the final T20I will be played in Mirpur.
Bevon Jacobs impresses in his maiden outing in the PSL
Jacobs was signed by the Quetta Gladiators as one of their foreign players for PKR 60 lakh in the PSL 2026 auction. Jacobs gave a noteworthy performance while playing in just a few games. He played 6 games for the Gladiators and scored 102 runs in those games. His highest score was 49* against the Multan Sultans, and he had a strike rate of 136.
This knock demonstrated his skills and provided spectators with a good indication of his potential. National duty, however, continues to be a player's paramount priority.

Bevon Jacobs missed the Quetta Gladiators game against the Karachi Kings
When the Quetta Gladiators met the Karachi Kings in one of the highly anticipated games in PSL 2026 on April 25, 2026, Bevon Jacobs' name was missing from the Quetta starting XI, and it was revealed that he had left to join the New Zealand team for the Bangladesh T20I series.
David Warner, captain of the Karachi Kings, won the toss and chose to bowl first. Gladiators made two changes to their playing XI as Jahandad Khan and Dinesh Chandimal were included in the XI, while Brett Hampton was left out and Jacobs was unavailable.
Quetta Gladiators have already signed Dinesh Chandimal as a replacement for Bevon Jacobs
The experienced Sri Lankan cricketer Dinesh Chandimal has already been signed by Quetta Gladiators as a replacement for Bevon Jacobs for the remainder of the PSL 2026 tournament. In fact, in Gladiators’ previous game, captain Saud Shakeel had included both Jacobs and Chandimal in the playing XI.
This happened as Jacobs was to leave in a few days, as the T20I series between Bangladesh and New Zealand begins on April 27, and the Kiwi cricketer was in Pakistan at the time. Hence, both Jacobs and Chandimal were part of the Gladiators' playing XI, which created confusion among supporters on how the replacement and replacing player can play together in an XI.
After missing the Gladiators' most recent PSL game against Peshawar Zalmi, Jacobs actually made a comeback to the starting lineup.
Quetta Gladiators’ performance in the PSL 2026
Bevon Jacobs’ Quetta Gladiators are not having a good time in the Pakistan Super League season 11. They have played 9 games thus far and have won only three matches. They have lost 6 games and have only 6 points to their name with a net run rate of -0.355.
Gladiators are almost out of the race for the playoffs as Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, and Islamabad United have already qualified for the playoffs, and there is only one spot left with Lahore Qalandars, Hyderabad Kingsmen, and Karachi Kings fighting for that spot.
