In a significant development, the New Zealand have finally named Kane Williamson's replacement in their squad for the final two Tests against England.
The decision comes after Kane Williamson announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing to an end a remarkable journey that spanned more than 16 years.
The experienced batter decided to leave the international stage with immediate effect during New Zealand's ongoing Test tour of England. His departure means he will not feature in the remaining matches of the three-Test series.
It is important to note that England won the first Test match by 115 runs at Lord's. The second Test match will start on June 17 at The Oval.
The third and final Test match will be played at Nottingham starting on June 25.
Kane Williamson's Replacement Named
After Kane Williamson's retirement, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that Will Young will join the squad ahead of the second Test between England and New Zealand on June 13.
The board welcomed the top-order batter through an official update and confirmed that he would link up with the team as preparations continue for the next match.

They wrote - "A big welcome to Will Young, who joins the squad tomorrow as the team continues their prep for the second test against England starting this Wednesday 17 June."
"New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) - "Blackcaps and Central Stags batter Will Young has been called into the Test squad in place of Kane Williamson for the remaining two Test matches against England."
"Young will arrive in England on Sunday, 14 June, and will train with the side from Monday ahead of the second Test at The Oval, starting on Wednesday, 17 June."
Kane Williamson played the first Test match and failed to make any significant contribution. Across two innings, the star player made 18 runs at an average of 9.00.
Kane Williamson's International Cricket Career
It is vital to note that Kane Williamson made his debut for New Zealand against India in 2010. Overall, looking at his career, the former NZ captain has played 110 Test matches and scored 9515 runs at an average of 54.06.
In the ODI format, he has played 175 matches and made 7256 runs at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 81.59. In the shortest format of the game, Williamson played 93 matches and made 2575 runs at a strike rate of 123.08.

Kane Williamson's replacement, Will Young, now has the chance to make an important contribution in the remaining two Tests at The Oval and Trent Bridge.
The 33-year-old player has represented New Zealand in 23 matches and has scored 1,215 runs at an average of 31.97.
The last time Kane Williamson's replacement, Will Young, played a Test match for New Zealand was against the West Indies in 2025.
