It looked as if the officers in charge didn’t follow the proper procedure, and now action has been taken against the culprits as an FIR was registered and arrests were made in quick time.

According to reports, the Bangladesh player was returning after playing in the Dhaka Premier League on Friday night when the unfortunate incident happened. The event took place in the Lalkhan Bazar area of Chattogram, where the officials physically and mentally abused Nayeem.

The player repeatedly told them that he is an international player, but the person in charge didn’t pay any attention.

Following the assault, Nayeem Hasan’s brother, Sabbir Hasan, filed an FIR and demanded immediate action and justice.

Nayeem Hasan demands justice from Chattogram police

After registering an FIR in Chattogram, the Bangladesh player demanded justice as he was beaten by the officials without any mistake.

"I repeatedly told them who I was, but they refused to listen," Nayeem told reporters in Chattogram later. "The police beat me indiscriminately with sticks and plastic pipes. Later, when I identified myself at the police station, the officer-in-charge told me to keep my eyes down while speaking.

"If they were really police officers, why did they try to put me into a CNG instead of a police vehicle? I want a fair investigation and justice over the entire incident."

The Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh have stood tall with the spinner in this tough time.
