Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are in dire need of some replenishment as their IPL 2026 has gone from bad to worse. And one of their top players, Josh Inglis, is yet to join the party, as he recently got married and it will take some time for him to come down to India.
Josh Inglis was part of the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, disrupting the lineup with 278 runs in 11 innings at an average of 30.88 and strike rate of 162.57. Inglis was to be retained by the PBKS side until he informed them of his marriage plans and unavailability for the start of the IPL 2026, leading to his release before the IPL 2026 auction.
Josh Inglis was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2026 auction
PBKS coach Ricky Ponting had hinted at Inglis’s partial availability after the franchise released him, and the keeper-batter set off an intense bidding war in the IPL 2026 auction. LSG eventually outbid Sunrisers Hyderabad and reunited Inglis with coach Justin Langer, buying the Australian for 8.40 crore.
Inglis was one of the players the team was hoping to retain for IPL 2026, according to PBKS co-owner Ness Wadia, but the player announced his lack of full availability "45 minutes before the deadline." After the Ashes, Inglis had stated that he might be available for a best of 4 IPL matches at the end.

April 4, 2024, Josh Inglis and Megan Kincart became engaged, which was a significant turning point in their relationship. The couple's story combines relevant personal milestones with cricket success, and they have been raising their son Oscar.

Lucknow Super Giants await Josh Inglis’ return as batting woes worsen
The recent PBKS vs. LSG game proved that the Giants' batting is nowhere close to competing with the likes of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad when it comes to firepower and run-making.
Despite having the likes of Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, and captain Rishabh Pant in their ranks, LSG’s overall batting average this season stands at 19.8, the lowest among all teams.
Together, the top-order batsmen, Marsh (115 runs in five innings), Markram (120 runs in five games), Rishabh Pant (104 runs in five games), and Nicholas Pooran (42 runs in six outings), have collectively made one fifty so far in IPL 2026.
LSG has been the second-slowest scoring side in the tournament, with a run rate of 8.1, whereas PBKS ranks as the second-best, with a run rate of 10.9.
Maybe the return of Josh Inglis might ignite the fire under LSG batters that is needed to take them to the playoffs and start winning games. Now, as per an ESPNCricinfo Report, Josh Inglis is set to join the LSG team before their May 4 match vs Mumbai Indians. Now if Inglis becomes available, he might end up playing at least last 6 group matches of LSG.
Nicholas Pooran has been going through one of the poorest IPL campaigns ever and if his form doesn't take a positive slope before Josh Inglis' arrival, Pooran is the most likely candidate to be benched out for Inglis.
