In a significant development, Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has found himself back in the IPL franchise spotlight despite recently having his IPL contract with KKR terminated on the instructions of the BCCI. The move had seemingly ended his immediate association with the league.

However, Mustafizur Rahman has now registered for the upcoming season of The Hundred, reopening doors on the global T20 circuit. His name in the draft pool signals a renewed opportunity following the earlier setback.

With four IPL franchise ownership groups holding stakes in teams participating in The Hundred, Mustafizur has effectively re-entered the extended IPL-linked radar. Despite the contract snub, he could once again attract attention from familiar franchise investors.

Mustafizur Rahman Registers for The Hundred Auction

Mustafizur Rahman has formally entered the player pool for The Hundred Auction 2026, set to be held at Piccadilly Lights in central London on March 11 and 12. The 30-year-old headlines his country’s contingent in what marks a notable step on the franchise circuit.

Carrying a base price of £100,000, the highest among the 23 Bangladeshi cricketers registered, Mustafizur Rahman stands out prominently on the draft list. His valuation reflects his value in the franchise cricket market as teams from The Hundred prepare to shape their squads for the upcoming season.

Despite the recent IPL contract termination for KKR, franchises connected to the league do not appear to be distancing themselves from Mustafizur Rahman’s services. With several IPL ownership groups holding stakes in teams competing in The Hundred, his registration for the auction once again opens the door for collaboration, this time in a different league.

23 Bangladesh Players Enter The Hundred Auction Pool

A total of 23 Bangladesh cricketers have registered for the 2026 edition of The Hundred, marking the country’s strongest presence yet in the tournament’s player pool. Notably, no Bangladesh player has featured in the competition since its launch in 2021.

The list includes prominent names such as Litton Das, Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto, alongside emerging talents across formats. Their inclusion signals Bangladesh’s growing ambition to secure representation in a league that continues to expand its global footprint.

The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed that nearly 1000 players from 18 countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh, have registered. Ahead of the auction, eight teams will submit extended interest lists, which will be narrowed to a final longlist before approximately 200 names go under the hammer.

IPL-Linked Franchises Maintain Interest In Mustafizur Despite IPL Rejection

Despite BCCI’s firm stance in the IPL, IPL franchises with stakes in The Hundred have not distanced themselves from Bangladesh players, particularly in this case Mustafizur Rahman. His name is expected to feature in internal discussions as teams evaluate overseas options.

Even though the BCCI decided to part ways with him in the IPL, franchise-backed teams such as Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave, all linked to IPL ownership groups, are still open to signing him in other leagues as The Hundred now offers a fresh stage for a possible reunion.
