The Pakistan Super League season 11 is on the horizon, and the competition is set to be tougher from the 2026 season onwards after two new teams were recently introduced. To cope with the competition, just weeks after the PSL 11 player auction ended, the Multan Sultans have made another attempt at strengthening their squad with new signings.

On Thursday afternoon, the Sultans announced a fast bowling duo as their latest signings and expressed their excitement to provide exposure to talented youngsters. With the fresh additions, their squad will now consist of 18 players, including 7 frontline bowling options.

Multan Sultans sign promising pace bowlers for PSL 11

The two pacers signed by the Sultans with just weeks to go for the season opener include Arshad Iqbal and Muhammad Ismail. The former has previously represented Pakistan in 3 T20Is between 2021 and 2023 before going through a tough period with a stress fracture. Ismail is an uncapped local talent from Southern Punjab with just over 30 domestic games.

Franchise owner Gohar Shah was beaming with happiness as he announced the addition of the duo to the squad and looked enthusiastic for the season ahead.

"Arshad's profile is exactly the type of person we need. The resolve he's shown to come back from a stress fracture and then to go out and impress in the domestic season... It's precisely the mindset that we want to work with," he said.

"Ismail is one of the best pace prospects in Pakistan at the moment. Under the guidance of Saud Khan, he will grow and go on to do big things. We are so happy to have another South Punjab player in our ranks who knows what it means to play for us," Shah added.

Big break for Ismail and Iqbal

The 20-year-old right-arm quick, Ismail, is yet to feature in the PSL, making it a golden opportunity for him to shine and lead the Sultans to glory. In his short domestic career, he has picked 99 wickets in 26 FC games, representing Southern Punjab 2nd XI, while he has 3 wickets in 4 List A matches and 11 in 5 T20s.

On the other hand, Iqbal, who has played 24 PSL matches for the Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi combined, has had a torrid time on the sideline due to a long injury break. He recently returned to domestic cricket and started impressing again. In 24 PSL matches, he has picked 25 wickets and has an economy of just over 9 runs per over.

With Pakistan cricket going through a topsy-turvy time, it will be a golden opportunity for Iqbal in particular to do well in the PSL and bid for an international return.

Multan Sultans full squad for PSL 11

Following no retenetions at all, they revamped the squad and announced BBL-winning skipper, Ashton Turner, as the leader of their pack.

Other notable names in the team will be Mohammad Nawaz, Steve Smith, Tabraiz Shamsi and Peter Siddle, among others.
