Naqvi set to take legal action against Muzarabani [Source: AFP]
On the IPL side, KKR needed a replacement for the outcast Mustafizur Rahman, and they signed one of the best pace bowlers in the T20 format at the moment - the Zimbabwean seamer, Blessing Muzarabani. Interestingly, the Zimbabwe bowler was set to play in the upcoming PSL 2026 season, but he rejected the league, and joined KKR.
It was a repeat telecast of the PSL 2025 season, when Corbin Bosch, the South African all-rounder, had signed a deal to play in the league, but when the Mumbai Indians came calling, the pacer immediately left PSL to join the IPL.
Mohsin Naqvi set to take legal action against Muzarabani
Muzarabani will join his KKR teammates soon, but the T20 World Cup star could land himself in trouble as Mohsin Naqvi and PCB are unhappy with his last-minute decision to switch leagues. According to reports by Geo News, Naqvi is planning to file a legal case against the Zimbabwe pacer for ditching them.
Muzarabani was set to represent the Islamabad United in the PSL, but he apparently violated the agreement after signing the contract, as the league is set to take legal action against him.
Muzarabani, who has won a PSL title with Multan Sultans, was initially unpicked at the PSL auction. However, a deal was later reached with Islamabad as a direct signing after they let go of West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph.

PSL repeating Corbin Bosch saga with Muzarabani
Last year, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch pulled out of the PSL to join MI in the IPL 2025 season. He was the diamond pick for Peshawar Zalmi in the league, but he left them at the last minute to switch alliances.
As a result of this, PCB decided to threaten the player with legal action for backstabbing the league and the team. Bosch had "expressed his regrets" for withdrawing from the PSL, and that he would be barred from participating in the 11th edition of the competition in 2026,” a PSL statement read after the pacer abandoned them.
However, the ban on Bosch had no effect on him as the player was retained by MI ahead of the IPL 2026 season, and he would don their Blue jersey for the new season.
Hence, it seems PCB is following the same footsteps by threatening Muzarabani with a legal action, and a possible one-year ban from the PSL.
Why Muzarabani replaced Mustafizur Rahman in KKR
During the IPL 2026 mini auction, KKR splashed a hefty amount of money to acquire the services of Bangladesh seamer, Mustafizur Rahman. He was expected to be a key figure for the team, but then came the geopolitical tension between India and Bangladesh.
Tension escalated between the two nations, and as a result, KKR was pressurised to release the Bangladesh pacer from their squad. The IPL franchises obeyed the orders as even before the season started, Mustafizur was omitted from the league.
Due to this, KKR was left with just one overseas pacer- Matheesha Pathirana, and even he is currently nursing an injury. The team needed a quick Mustafizur replacement, and in Muzarabani, they found an able one as the pacer was coming on the back of a stellar T20 World Cup campaign.
