IPL 2026 starts on March 28, and the Delhi Capitals await development on Mitchell Starc. The Capitals, who are still eyeing their maiden title, are yet to hear from the left-arm seamer regarding his availability for IPL 2026.
For the unversed, Delhi Capitals retained Mitchell Starc for IPL 2026, but the left-arm seamer has not joined the camp so far. The Axar Patel-led side will play its first game on March 31 against LSG, and the left-arm seamer will miss that clash.
Delhi Capitals Management Provides Update On Mitchell Starc
Ahead of the upcoming season, Delhi Capitals’ management held a presser, where they addressed Mitchell Starc’s issue. The head coach, Hemang Badani, revealed that Cricket Australia has not issued an NOC for the left-arm seamer.
For IPL 2026, Cricket Australia has been strict, and they are not issuing the NOCs easily, as seen in the case of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. Meanwhile, Hemang Badani added that the team will only get an update once CA issues NOC, hinting at a long wait to see Starc in DC colours.
“We are waiting for an NOC from Cricket Australia. Once we get that, then only we can say anything about Starc’s availability," Badani told the media in New Delhi on Monday.
Alyssa Healy Confirms Mitchell Starc’s Injury
In the latest events, the fans were shocked to see half-fit Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood given NOCs by Cricket Australia as the two cricketers have reached India for IPL 2026. Cummins, who is recovering from a back injury, has joined SRH.
On the other hand, Josh Hazlewood too has joined the RCB camp. Notably, both Australian seamers will miss the first few games, but they have still reached India. It has left fans wondering why the same has not been for Mitchell Starc.

A section of fans were upset to see half-fit Starc not join the DC camp and raised the same issue in the comment section as Mitchell Starc’s latest insta post. Meanwhile, Alysaa Healy jumped to her husband’s defence and issued an official update.
Healy, replying to user Anmol_Is_Here’s query ‘This is so unfair to us @delhicapitals fan that Hazelwood and Cummins, despite being injured, will be available for their teams but you won't be’ confirmed the injury.
“@Anmol probably cause he's injured, mate...if he can't bowl, how's he supposed to play?” remarked Alysaa Healy. Now, it is clear that Starc is suffering from an injury, but Healy didn’t reveal the extent of it or the time when Starc will join DC.
Mitchell Starc Suffers Injury In The Off-Season
Mitchell Starc was breathing fire during Ashes 2025-26 in the absence of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. The left-arm seamer took 31 wickets in 10 innings. Further, Starc featured in the BBL where he took 10 wickets in five innings.
The Delhi Capitals' star looked fit and fine till his last appearance and it seems that he picked up an injury in his off-season out of the excessive workload in the absence of two veterans.
