In a significant development, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz was taken to hospital for observation after suffering a concussion during BAN vs AUS 2nd ODI in Dhaka on Thursday (June 11).
The all-rounder was struck on the side of his helmet by a sharp bouncer from Riley Meredith while batting in Bangladesh's chase.
Although he was able to continue and eventually hit the winning runs, team officials later confirmed that he had sustained a concussion and was admitted to hospital as a precaution.
According to reports, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was out of danger but remained under medical observation following the BAN vs AUS 2nd ODI.
What Happened To Mehidy Hasan Miraz In BAN vs AUS 2nd ODI?
The incident occurred during the 34th over of Bangladesh's chase. Riley Meredith delivered a short-pitched ball that struck Mehidy Hasan Miraz on the side of his helmet.
The Bangladesh captain immediately grabbed the area where the ball hit him before dropping to his knees in visible discomfort.

Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan rushed onto the field to conduct a mandatory concussion assessment.
Concern quickly spread around the ground when Mehidy Hasan Miraz appeared unwell during treatment and was seen vomiting.
A stretcher was brought onto the field in anticipation that the batter might have to leave the match. However, after treatment, he got back on his feet and decided to continue batting.
The stretcher was eventually taken away, and Miraz resumed his innings.
Bangladesh Physio Gives Massive Update On Mehidy Hasan Miraz's Injury
Following the match, Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed that Mehidy Hasan Miraz had suffered a concussion and was sent to hospital for further evaluation, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
"Mehidy Hasan Miraz had a concussion during the match today. He continued to play after being assessed in the middle. We have sent him to the hospital to assess the rest of his signs, and for general observation. He will be there for the next 24 hours," he said.
Later reports suggested that Miraz was out of danger, although doctors decided to keep him under observation as a precautionary measure.
Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed praised his determination to continue despite the injury.
"It was incredible of Miraz to bat in that condition. I think he took a quick decision that if he walks off, the new batter could be prone to making a mistake in that pressure situation," Taskin said.
It is important to note that the 3rd ODI between Bangladesh and Australia will be played on June 14. With the result of the series already decided, there is a chance that Mehidy Hasan Miraz will miss the final match.
Mustafizur Rahman Stars As Bangladesh Seal Historic Series Win
Bangladesh's victory was built on an outstanding bowling performance led by Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed. After Australia won the toss and chose to bat, the visitors suffered a nightmare start.
Taskin dismissed Matt Short for a duck before Mustafizur Rahman removed Cooper Connolly and Matt Renshaw without a run on the board.
Australia struggled throughout the innings before Marnus Labuschagne (55 not out) and Xavier Bartlett (52) added a valuable 103-run stand for the 7th wicket to guide their side to 187/8 in 42 overs.
Bangladesh were set a revised DLS target of 192 and chased it down comfortably with 36 balls to spare.
Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy all contributed valuable runs before Mehidy Hasan Miraz fittingly finished the contest with a six.
