India Women's History In The T20 World Cup
The Indian Women's team has participated in every edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup since the inaugural tournament in 2009. However, the team is still searching for its first title.
India reached the semi-finals in the first edition in England in 2009 before losing to New Zealand. They again made the top four in the 2010 in the West Indies but were beaten by Australia.
The team failed to progress beyond the group stage in 2012, 2014 and 2016. India returned strongly in 2018 and reached the semi-finals but lost to England.
The best performance in India’s Women's T20 World Cup history came in 2020 when they reached their first-ever final in Australia.
However, they finished as runners-up after losing to Australia in the title clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
India reached the semi-finals once again in 2023, in South Africa, but suffered a narrow defeat against Australia. In the 2024 edition held in the UAE, India could not advance beyond the group stage.
